Student pilot in 2003 but basically hired as a very low time CRJ pilot in 2007. As of tonight I have 10,531 total time and only about 650ish of that is TPIC. Started at a regional in Oct 2007 and made just one move to a LCC/Major in early 2012 and then delayed upgrade by 9 months. Every year since starting at the airlines, I've flown 900+ hrs, except since upgrading last year I'm on reserve so obviously time is less for 2018 and 2019. Even if if I'd taken the first available upgrade, it would have been 10 yrs and 2 months to be a Captain since starting at a regional. Age 65 + the 2008-2011ish recession. I won't complain much, at least I had a job. Many people were far worse off.
I still do paper logbooks, never switched to electronic. The problem with hitting 10,000+ hrs is that now you're writing five digits in a column that really can't fit that too well (I use the standard Jepp logbook).
