What did you do while sitting on reserve?

That's a polite way of describing how reserves are treated around here.
I wrote something on a back of a napkin and stuck it into my desk drawer once. Before I upgraded and before RJ made my life intolerable, I wanted to do that next.

I passed it along and the response was tepid at best, but.

Hi all,

I’m currently sitting on reserve and there is barely any flights to be done. Looking to get some ideas on how to be more productive with all of this time. What did you do to make more money or things to build your resume for the next job? My company has airport standby and two hours callous.

If not used several days on rsv, I pick up open time on days off. For April and May I did 100+ hrs credit 2 months consecutively. Crazy money! June I picked up two 1-day trips to make it a 90 hr credit month.

Next project is build an airplane.
I missed that originally. Which one are you thinking?
Stock cold beer and you'll have all the composite and avionics help you need. Did some fabrics and rivets too, to a much lesser extent though. Heck, I'll bring my own beer.

Why sit reserve? I stand, do things....

I’m looking at a T-51, but that’ll be in the distant future.

Sitting Reserve, you could just go jumpseat to different places around the country, then take pictures and videos of doing same and post them on FB. Atlas is a pretty good carrier to use for this, I hear........

But he said flying a Van in Alaska was the best aviation job he ever had. He was excited to get back to real flying. Then he was fired again...
