What did you do while sitting on reserve?

Hi all,

I’m currently sitting on reserve and there is barely any flights to be done. Looking to get some ideas on how to be more productive with all of this time. What did you do to make more money or things to build your resume for the next job? My company has airport standby and two hours callous.

What is this sitting on reserve and not being used you speak of? Last time I was on reserve I flew way over min guarantee and was never home.

I've never been called of reserve status. So most of the time I'll either sleep, hang out by the pool, and or workout.

If I don’t get called in, it’s back to watching Netflix at home on my couch.

Long call living in base is the bee’s knees.

Got any leads? Lol I have considered getting my masters but it probably will not be wise for me to add more loans to the table

I am slowly doing mine as well. If you're interested, Emporia State University has a great masters in Math online and the price is very reasonable.

Good courses too.

Finishing my Bachelors...though I’m not on reserve anymore. Being on reserve here is a guaranteed “fly your ass off” sentence. I also live in base, so when I’m not flying I’m probably chasing kids and / or mowing the damn grass.

I would take flying over airport reserve or sitting at the crashpad trying to not go crazy any day! Hopefully things will pick up but meanwhile I will try to find something productive to do.

Also not supposed to happen, but unsurprised. The lack of rescheduling language there means you’re a toy.
Yeah. Happened twice I’ll either proffer for or get a “voluntold” proffer on say day 2 of a 5 day bucket, but on day one they’ll panic cover a 4 day with me and give the other trip to someone else.
