Nah, waste of your time. Plus if he crashed they wouldn’t have covered him anyway. I’ve got a hull value of $50k on my 172s. If they were to crash my estimate is a check for around $35k. Insurance companies are crooked af

Maybe you misread. We're talking about student pilots that own their plane. They're still required to be endorsed by their CFI to solo but are flying without CFI knowledge or endorsement. I can't imagine insurance covering in that situation.

I also wonder if they'd be looking at criminal charges if they injured or killed someone.

exactly. Pick your battles. I don't have enough time to put out my own fires let alone try to "help" an insurance company out by letting them know what one of their policy holders are doing. If you can even figure out the carrier.

Well not that I instruct independently but if I did there is zero chance I'd take on a student without insurance. I'd need a copy of the binder. CYA mate.
