Reality check

Well, alright then, I'll play devil's advocate..

Tell me what is so good about AA that you would give up your seniority number.

Sincerely, not goofing around - how is all y'all perspective so different from what I've had mainline guys tell me in person, time and time again for the past year and a half that I've been riding jump twice a week to work. How many of y'all are at AA? What is your perspective based on?

Those mainline guys complaining are probably older guys who have had completely different experiences than you will. Mergers, furloughs, 9/111, age 65, etc. Not saying those can’t happen again but with the massive retirements it really would make any of those things much less painful than before.

Talk to some new hires or guys that have been there since 2011 or so. Completely different ballgame. I was hired 5 years ago and missed group 2 captain by low double digits last bid. I could hold the 777 in dfw if i wanted.

I’m happy as can be. It’s all what you make of it my dude. But by all means do what you want. Just don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

Since it hasn’t been asked, are the things you’re unhappy with at your regional specific to the company, or are you unhappy with flying itself? If you switch regionals do you really think it will suddenly be better?

I understand commuting to reserve at a regional is a special kind of hell, but if you change regionals will you still be commuting anyway?

A special level of hell reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the movies.

You should totally bid 777 DFW

If the apex of my career was what I’m doing right now, seeing what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t be satisfied.

Flying jets is fun, but I miss waking up from my arrival nap and heading out solo in some strange city I know nothing about that speaks a language I don’t have a handle on.

Sitting at Bennigans with a bunch of crew members in Kansas City doesn’t measure up to a stick of specious meat, Japanese beer and choking on charcoal smoke at an Izakaya in Tokyo.

You know what's more awesome than being out solo in a strange city I know nothing about that speaks a language I don't have a handle on?

Being at home with my kids.

Being a commuter, there's nothing better than a quick domestic three day. Living in base? Reserve. It's just reserve. Reserve and their adventures, Derg. Reserve, forever and forever, a hundred years reserve, s... things. Reserve runnin' around and reserve time. Aaall day long forever. All, a hundred days reserve forever a hundred times. Over and over reserve adventures dot com W W W dot reserve dot com W W W reserve adventures all hundred years. Every minute reserve dot com W W W hundred times reserve dot com.

You can do both. Unless you are getting overnights at home almost exclusively you’re gonna have to spend time on the road with this job. Might as well be somewhere that doesn’t suck.

I don't care where the overnight is because I don't go out. My goal with this job isn't to see awesome places and do awesome things. My goal with this job is to be at home as much as possible, fly airplanes, and make lots and lots of money. On an average overnight, I get to the hotel room, slam click, eat something out of my cooler, and sleep 12 hours (because the kids don't let me sleep at home).

I understand that this isn't the reason you or Derg do this job.I don't begrudge you guys wanting to see the world, but I've found that the world isn't worth seeing if I'm not doing it with my family.

The three of us live completely different lives, and that's a-ok.

Do they still have Bennigans there? They all disappeared in Texas. Man I want a Monte Cristo right now!!!

There's a Bennigans in Mt. Pleasant, MI. All you have to do is get a long DTW overnight, rent a car, and drive about 3 hours north.

Just checked their corporate website. Holy smokes have they shrunk! I believe Quiznos is shrinking like crazy as well right now.
