What other major airline has to try to convince pilots how great it is to work there?

I wonder why they disabled comments?

I think they did a nice job with the video. But that doesn't make up for the fact that they wouldn't have to make such a video if their pay was anywhere close to the other Airbus carriers. Also, it really came across as the type of video a regional would put together to try to attract applicants. I mean, talking about training in the sim and the warm fuzzy feeling you get the first time you fly the actual airplane? Really?! OMGZ!!!

I passed up a class with Frontier a couple years ago. At the time, I was just looking to get out f the regionals. While I'm still at a regional, I'm very happy with my decision to not go there and I feel like I'm in a good position to hopefully move on to a legacy carrier soon.

I met a couple of the people in the video and I have a handful of friends at Frontier. They seem like a great pilot group. Unfortunately, as long as the company can attract new hires they will slow play the negotiation process and continue to pay their pilots less than what the pilots deserve.

Question.. please try not to kill me. Ive been hired at F9 and would do a short commute if I accepted. I also could be a Regional Capt and drive to a few years of reserve at my current gig. My reason for going would be the possibility of pay increase down the line, get in before the growth, I have no degree and no pic. Without throwing (too many) stones. Would it make sense?

Are you planning on getting a degree?

Accept the job if you want, but before you do please read the frontierpilotfacts.com page. Know that you will not receive company paid lodging for the 2+ months you are in training, a contract is no where in sight. The two sides haven't even met for about 4 months now. Depending on what base you want reserve is running a year plus and your upgrade will be in the neighborhood of 5+ years. Frontier has been known to go 5-6 months between upgrade classes. Its a great pilot group but there are much better ULCC options out there right now.

Of course, but at the same time youre gonna tell the boss about it right? Youre not just gonna arbitrarily call out sick 40 times. Did this guy break his arm? Who here knows? Theres more to this story than anyone here is privy to and yes, if there was no reason given that would be a red flag for abuse.

A reason? You give your employer your personal medical information? That’s insane.

Sick leave doesn’t need justification anymore than vacation leave does. If you’ve got the time in your bank, your employer has no justification for complaining about you using it.

"Hey I broke my arm, Ill be out of commission for a bit." Why is that so terrible?

I wouldn't come here right now unless I didn't have a job. As posted above, the working atmosphere is toxic, the operation is a disaster, the 2 year upgrade is a lie, the junior flying is difficult (lots of red-eyes). Despite what they probably told you in the interview, a contract doesn't appear to be close. You do you, though.

That said, if you do decide to come here, outside of a few socially inept posters on APC, you will find the pilot group welcoming though unenthusiastic. You will get asked why you came here but I don't think the majority of people you fly with will you give you too hard a time.
