Considering it cost 10 grand per hour to run that airplane that's not unreasonable.

I'm just not interested in "rides" at any price, but I hope they can keep supporting the airplane

The fuel specifics on those old turbocompound engines is amazing compared to modern turboprops.

As far as I know the turbo compound really only was widely used on the Constellation, the Neptune, and the DC-7.

That is awesome to have a fluid coupling transferring power from the turbos to the crankshaft. The turbo coupling, turbo supercharged engine must have been a monster creating power all the way up to 30,000 feet.

Awesome but.... Troublesome.

Fluid couplings generate a lot (lot!) Of heat.

P&W tried an infinitely variable supercharger drive using a fluid coupling but didn't adopt it.
