Everts Air Cargo in Fairbanks AK

I don't, and I haven't, but they're universally known up here for being fairly dysfunctional but a fun job with good people. There are a lot of places like that. I can't speak to the veracity of that assertion, but there are lifers over there. I'd probably work for them, but that doesn't necessarily say much lol, @z987k

Worked there many years ago, from what I hear now it's a mess, Fairbanks can be mentally and physically challenging, much more so than where I worked in Anchorage, a lot more to do around there and plenty of escape options... the DC-6 in my avatar is one of theirs.

I worked for big ACE many years ago. It's a ma and pa business with classic equipment. Kind of like UPS was up until 15 years ago when they still had the classic 747's, DC-8's and 727's.

Both "airlines" are good to work for early in a persons career to obtain experience so they can get hired on at a real airline.

Anchorage was manageable, Fairbanks is a totally different animal
I'd probably prefer Fairbanks if it was anywhere near mountains. It's really not and there's not really any skiing either. And the fishing sucks. You get over the cold rather quickly if you're younger than say 50 though. It's much closer to a real frontier town.
It's funny, I was in Fairbanks the other day and the cab driver asked where I'm from since I was dressed like an idiot(airline pilot), when I said Anchorage, he said and the rather standard response - "I'm sorry."

Waking up an old thread, but curious to know what it's like working here nowadays. They are currently hiring.

saying this lighthearted-

Not much changes in a -40°F environment. The classic, yeehaw feel of a frontier town isn't for everyone. If you do get a chance to get up there*, -- I know your account posting history has you lookin' -- keep the thought in the front of your mind that "this will be where I live. Home, to some."

I'll say good luck with whatever you decide: Releasing up that way with Russian airspace closures certainly gets one familiar with FAI and ANC. And CDB... And AKN...

**(or to other towns you'd be HQ'd in.)

Thanks! Yeah I have been looking, I just got my cert recently and I have been applying just about anywhere and everywhere. Not sure about everts though, so wanted to ask around.
