Places to live in St. George

SGU is unique to say the least, very Mormon. Few bars, Buffalo Wild Wings, Bout Time Pub and Grub and the Bowling Alley Bar "Fireside" are the more frequented places to drink. However it is an outdoor mecca. Zion NP is a half hour away and words cant describe it. Southern Utah in general is very big on Rock climbing, hiking, camping, mtn biking and canyoneering. The Desert Rat in SGU on the corner of Bluff and SGU Blvd will point you in the right direction and has any gear or guide books needed. QOL is what you make it there, if you get outside its hard to be disappointed, find a buddy and get out would be my advise. Traveling sucks out of SGU but can be done. It's a little easier out of CDC if you are going through SLC. Otherwise LAS is the best launch point. South City bus Terminal in LAS you can park for free and take a $2 shuttle to the airport, the lot has a security guard so its a safe place to park and avoid crazy parking fees.
Are there good places to go kayaking out there?

Are there good places to go kayaking out there?
I have seen people kayaking in sections of the Virgin River through Zion NP. There are also two reservoirs close by, Sandhallow and Gunlock for some flatwater fun, both on the small end but gets you out (you are in a desert). Lake Powell is 2-2.5hr drive away to the east and is awesome to kayak on and go back into some slot canyons to explore. The most fun I have ever had kayaking and is always a blast to check out.
