Places to live in St. George

So I know there are a few SkyWest dispatchers or past dispatchers in here. So I'm a single guy looking for a place to live while dispatching there. Any suggestions? I can't find anything under $900 really and I've never been to the area so I'm not sure if there are less than ideal parts or not. Thanks.

Avoid Dixie Downs, that's all I can say...

Try looking farther out like Washington or Santa Clara... I was renting 1bed/1ba out there for $700, wasn't so bad

I'm afraid that's the norm for the most part out here. I lucked out and found a 2br/1ba for $650, nothing else had anywhere near that value, and it took me 2 full days searching out here in person to find it.

Can't say that any area out here should be avoided, per say. It's all pretty similar in my eye. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

How is the St. George area? I would think it's good for outdoor stuff. How's QOL? How is it when traveling somewhere else from there?

The company will have somebody email you a list of places and/or people with a room for rent. Some looking for a room mate, some rent out a room during training so you have extra time to look without stressing over it, and some available apartments from different locations out here. I have no idea what is available right now though, sorry.

Check out Oasis Palms apartments. On the other side of the mesa. They were newer and pretty nice. Had a one bedroom for around 725 or so.
Did. Looked them up. Show for well over 1000 now. Guess prices really went up.

That is so NICE of them! Seriously, that is nice of them. SkyWest does things differently, and I dare say, better. For example, when I non-rev to my home in PA, SkyWest has the DTW-ABE leg. There was a question about the deicing system, so the CA came out to the gate area, picked up the mic, and explained it all to us. He got a round of applause for that; I'm serious! From what I've seen, SkyWest does the LITTLE THINGS well, the things that make a difference. I wish G7 would help new DXers find a place to stay. Thankfully, I have family in STL, so that wasn't as big an issue for me, but still...

SGU is unique to say the least, very Mormon. Few bars, Buffalo Wild Wings, Bout Time Pub and Grub and the Bowling Alley Bar "Fireside" are the more frequented places to drink. However it is an outdoor mecca. Zion NP is a half hour away and words cant describe it. Southern Utah in general is very big on Rock climbing, hiking, camping, mtn biking and canyoneering. The Desert Rat in SGU on the corner of Bluff and SGU Blvd will point you in the right direction and has any gear or guide books needed. QOL is what you make it there, if you get outside its hard to be disappointed, find a buddy and get out would be my advise. Traveling sucks out of SGU but can be done. It's a little easier out of CDC if you are going through SLC. Otherwise LAS is the best launch point. South City bus Terminal in LAS you can park for free and take a $2 shuttle to the airport, the lot has a security guard so its a safe place to park and avoid crazy parking fees.
