GoJet pilot on the radio

Gojets or another regional were probably the same idiots that started giving crap to a ground controller in training at IAD a few years ago. She was getting behind and people started getting stacked up in the alley's. Clearly a supervisor or seasoned professional takes over and starts ripping off taxi instructions and clearing the backlog. Some DB keys the mic and says something to the affect of thank go, finally a professional running ground. The controller scolds the guy and defends the controller in training. The DB responds that he was born flying jets...SMH SMH...

Okay, Donald.

Well it's true. I'm not saying you'd necessarily be wrong for thinking something is offensive, but it is only offensive if you think it is. Otherwise it's just meaningless words. Like if I call you fat. You can take it is an insult or an observation. It's up to you irregardless of how I meant it.

But were they reaaaaaally being jerks? Maybe he was just joking around with the captain and controller being a little sarcastic with an extra 3 syllables at the end of the call. With no intent to belittle the student pilot at all. I don't really find it offensive at all, should have just made it clear to your student it was a joke and moved on with life IMO.
80 % of students would probably not see that as a joke. As yakob said, students are in an unfamiliar environment trying to learn this stuff, and spending loads of $$$ in the process. I also instruct out of a class C airport, and I lost track of the number of times students get hung up, intimidated, or just shut down when ATC gets super busy and they struggled to utter the words they needed to say. Sure, we eventually get past it, they improve later on, but if the majority of students heard that from a professional pilot while trying to make radio calls and struggling to get the words out, it would more than likely piss them off. Regardless of the student's age, background, etc.

First, irregardless isn't a word. Second, calling me fat can be both a factual observation and a dick thing to do. Just like me correcting your spelling. Decent human beings understand that and don't act like dicks.

Definitely dramatic, but this reminds me of a story my instructor when I was working on my CFI certificate told me. He said that shortly after he began instructing, he was teaching a student to flair properly, and the student wasn't flairing enough and kept floating. So he said "don't be such a wimp" and told him to pitch up more. He meant it light heartedly, but he never did see the student again after that lesson! And this was back in the 1990s, so before the emergence of "SJWs" or "Millennials" or whatever the currently popular PC bogeyman is.

Flairing?

Firstly, I said irregardless specifically to annoy you lol. Secondly, your second part is exactly what I said. But whether you choose to let it bother you or be offended by it is completely up to you.

That's an interesting take on trying to justify being a dick.

I'm not using to justify being a dick. It's what I use when people try to be dicks to me. Now yes, I'm sure having that thought process has led me to say things that I don't think are dickish or not meant to be but someone has thought it was.

Perhaps. But never intentionally. And I don't think it's right to put the onus on other people to not be offended when you/I act like a dick.
It’s all about presentation. The onus is on the poster to not act like a dick. It’s not that hard. Just takes a little sensitivity and the ability to think about what the other side is getting from the intercourse. Both parties should come away satisfied that their points have been made.

Dude, you’ve acted absolutely, and unequivocally unashamed as a Richard Cranium in many anti-Trump posts, slinging insults at anyone you suspected of not having the same anti trump sentiments as you. When people responded as you knew they would, you pretty much told them to get over it.

That’s like the total opposite of what you just posted above!

You get the internet troll award for tonight!
