Per Reuters, Delta's CEO has publicly stated that they still plan to take delivery and have no intention of paying the tariffs.

Let's assume for a second these unfortunate tariffs are indeed imposed, not sure how we'd get out of them. Though smarter folk than I are certainly working on this, looking forward to getting this plane in the fleet.

Maybe Canadian tax payers are doing a national assessment to pay the tariff. And that will in no way be a subsidy either, because (fill in blank)

I think they're hoping the tariffs get shot down by the ITC.

There could possibly be ways around it with leasing schemes.

Unfortunately I don't think leasing schemes will do it - legislators should be able to sniff that out. If the tariff holds up, it will be imposed on any of these aircraft imported to the USA. If Delta can find someone who will eat that cost without transferring it to them, kudos, but I doubt any leasing company, bank, or partner airlines will be offering to do so.

Bastian mentioned "delay" a few times on the earnings call today, so I would guess they are working with BBD to fight this and won't take delivery until the picture becomes more clear. Wouldn't be surprised to see this end as a settlement of sorts where BBD agrees to a fine and some concession on how they conduct business in the US, while DAL keeps the jets without the penalty.

Maybe if Boeing built a jet in that category, modern, efficient and that airlines wanted, we would find ourselves in this situation, would we?

Boeings narrowbody program reminds me of eating on campus in college.

Monday: Steak
Tuesday: Grilled chicken and Steak Soup
Wednesday: Stir-fry day with choice of beef or chicken!
Thursday: beef or chicken pot pie
Friday: Fish sticks or hamburgers
Saturday: Hamburger soup with a crispy seafood salad

Southern jetz bubbas:

Have the guys who have bid/ awarded/trained the Cseries hit the "line yet"?
By that I mean, is it going to be like United 787 crews that had a few months of paid vacation, due to lack of airframes?

Apparently new airframes always come with some paid vacation regardless of circumstances, thus the excitement for the bid. But no, nobody has hit the sims yet aside from possibly the very initial check airman cadre. Not even sure the sim is operative quite yet. November 6th is supposed to be the initial bid for the 'general population'.
