Social Media and the job hunt.

Had a GoGo rep tell me that they can pinpoint which seats are logging in by which cell is activated. They can also tune the network so the signal is weak up front.

That gogo rep was hitting on you. I can think of a few simpler ways of tracking employees on the wifi connection, and I haven't worked in IT for over a decade.

Oh cool, you're getting satellite! Welcome to the Twenty-Teens! :)

Satellite Wifi that actually works! If you mean Gogo and it's "ground breaking" ATG-4 speed upgrade, it's still crappy Gogo. 2Ku is their newest technology but I think that's mostly gonna be used by the foreign airlines.

I had the opportunity to go back to school a few years ago. Lots o kids were interviewing for professional school...law school, med school, pharma, etc. What was considered "ok" interview attire blew me away.

It's all because they didn't drink more than a quart of (whole) milk per day! ;)

I find it hard to believe gogo is capable of such intimate signal tracking but I can't manage to get this site to load in under 5 minutes while I'm deadheading in 8C and my iMessage sits on "sending... sending... sending"

(It's really slick when I've used the new 2KU or whatever it is on the international delta fleet, but domestic... why even bother.)

In a virtual jumpseat, on the internet I saw one virtual CA give a smackin' to a virtual FO for using a virtual iPad to browse the virtual news. Said virtual CA then proceeded to read the same news source in physical print form, obtained from the virtual hotel. Is there a virtual difference? Neither is really following the virtual rule technically speaking.
What virtual shop was that?

Tell me, how do they obtain your IP address or necessary identifying information?

1. Each device has a MAC address. They can pull the logs from every plane you've flown in the last month, and if there's a common MAC address on each of them, you're probably the only common link between those flights. (But this is labor intensive.)

2. They can pull the logs from a company site like flica and see when you logged in and see if any of those times were from the IP address of the planes wifi. (Easy)

Most of the time if you get caught on flica, it's because someone ratted you out. You picked up a trip that they wanted, and they knew you were in flight. Next thing you know, carpet dance.

(this is trivial to defeat, by the way; it is commonly and incorrectly asserted that a MAC address is both unique and immutable.)

This is a more accurate method.

This claim is highly suspect. Highly, highly suspect.

Whenever a sales rep with a technical product makes a claim like that, ask to speak with his/her sales engineer.

It was the technician responsible for maintainance on the aircraft system. I'm a line pilot, why would I be taking to a sales rep?

Or just get their number, because they're hitting on you.

Dude looked like this:

Not my type.

I take it back, AS/VX will be installing fleet-wide Gogo 2Ku satellite wifi. I think Delta has this on some of their international jets? From what I hear, 2Ku is blazin fast.
