So, what's the point in being ALPA then? Why pay dues, when you can just freeload off of ALPA later?

Even Jackson, MS has KCM. I'm currently trying to establish KCM at my home airport and it is mind blowing how difficult it is. You'd think it would be easy given the low volume of passenger and KCM participants in Hinds County, MS.
 
Yes part 135 has access to KCM if the company sets it up through NATACs. Previous, and relatively small 135 opp, now has it.
 
I mind me of a time of when crews simply walked out to the airplane.

But I get that it feels better when you stop hitting yourself with a hammer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't every airline pay for KCM? I feel like I remember hearing Mesa pilots had to pay for their own KCM and they're ALPA.

Are Southwest, AA, UPS, Republic, Atlas, considered freeloaders?

Because they don't understand what freeloading is, perhaps. The sponsor of a public improvement can't claim exclusive rights over said improvement. Unions gave given us a lot of dramatic public improvements over the last 100 years, and we all benefit from them as a society.

When did we become so selfish as a country? Whatever happened to the common good? I paid school taxes happily long before I had a child, yet these days I hear people say, "I don't have a kid, why do I pay school taxes?"

I plan on never having any kids but I'll gladly pony up some more for school taxes if it means less stupid people walking around.
 
I also find it funny how the "only ALPA!" people are basically saying their own FAs shouldn't be allowed to use it either. If you stay in the same hotels, have fun taking earlier vans all the time so they can wait in regular security.

Or, you could have language in your contract that provides vans for just the flight crew if the FA roll time is earlier.

I think most people's concern about FAs having access was somebody trying to carry something stupid through and ending the program. So far it's been a pretty 50/50 split on who's been caught with prohibited stuff though.
