Spirit and Gojet...........

I kind of laugh at this stuff a little bit - is anyone really surprised?

That's not a dig on GoJet or Spirit - but of course in this market management is trying to figure out a way to get and retain pilots without paying more.
 
Probably useful for current GoJet pilots, but I'd imagine the Envoy flow through to AA is a better prospect for those just looking to get into a regional?

They will get a raise eventually. Worst case scenario they don't and you top out making $200k. Way better than regional pay.

And before that US Air was the highest paid major. It's all cyclical. I get gun shy when the guys I'm flying with tell me how great my career will be. Who knows, I could be making 400K+ for the rest of my career. Or I could be telling you about different types of lumber at Home Depot.

If that's what he meant, then he's doing it wrong. What I was referring to was climbing the professional and economic ladder. For every way there is to make a living, there's a ladder to climb. We all start at the bottom and try to work our way to the top. Some get there pretty quickly. Other's never get there at all. There are many ways to climb it, and none of them are "right" or "wrong". They're just a function of choices, preparation, and opportunity.

Did SPA ALPA have to sign off on this? I would be surprised if they did, given the current state of relations. Having a hard time attracting new hires is a heavy tool in the union's bag at this point.

I don't know what isn't or what is in their contract but generally unions have zero say in who the company hires, where the company hires from, or what the hiring process is.

Union approval isn't necessary unless they bargained for it previously.

No, ALPA has zero control over these types of agreements.

Is Spirit having trouble filling classes? And by that I mean hiring 20 and only 5 showing up? I can't imagine they are, I would think RJ FOs at places like ExpressJet, SkyWest, Air Wisconsin, etc. would be jumping on it.

With 50 more planes on order they only need 500 more pilots give or take, that isn't that many. I would think the understaffing issues are way overblown.
 
Last I heard they are offering start dates 2 weeks out during interviews. As for classes unfilled, I'm not sure, regardless there isn't much of a "pool" currently.

There was an AWAC guy that left for Spirit, got fired in training and came back to AWAC. I don't know your guys story but that's pretty odd. He must be in it for the bonuses, maybe ex mil?

You're in my brotherhood day one, but if you're fired before you hit the line, I doubt you can ever really call yourself a "Spirit" pilot.


PS. Did some searching, it appears both classes in session are full.
