That doesn't make it a bad idea.
I think it's an awesome idea.

On the 170 we just move the PTT downwards to mute it. I'd been coughing a lot from allergies/whatnot and found myself, almost every time even in a cold dark airplane at the gate with no headset on, muting the hot mic every time I cough.I'm still very much conditioned to reach up and move the switch to intercom whenever I have something to say.
As a bit of an avionics nerd, part 25 aircraft avionics baffle me a little. The parallel but separate developments to GA have led to some odd disparities.I think it's an awesome idea.
With 4,400 UNFILLED 737 orders and 5,500 UNFILLED A320 orders, I *really* don't think they're going to get any sort of deal. It's not like this is 2002 and they're just trying to keep their lights on.

I am TRIGGERED!!!
OMG! SHUTYOWERPIEHOLE!![]()
I have yet to have one NH say anything about, "back on the ___" or "back at___."
Guess all the cool NHs are going to the 88.
Usually it's when they dick with he VS knob trying to "smooth out" the level off, when I'm not looking, and they're near ALT* (capture), it enters the mode and then the bus say "Eeew K you stupid Eh'merry'CAN" and it blows the altitude.
Remember I'm DTW so I get all the Compass guys with old pre-airline tribal knowledge about the bus and bidding, isn't that right @ClarkGriswold?![]()
I am TRIGGERED!!!
Wait, so the surrender ship does the same level off crap as the 88 if you touch it right before your altitude? Back on the ER...

The 757 is a good airplane but is expensive to operate. The A321 does almost everything it does but at a significant cost advantage.Boeing had the best damn airplane in the world, and that was the 757!. Why the hell didn't they modify it to a more updated standard? Boeing could rule the world with that airplane. Instead there is this under-powered, under-winged, under-braked 757 wanna-be called the A321. And this tirade is being written by an Airbus pilot.
Boeing screwed up, and it wasn't the B737 that they messed up; it's not putting the money into the 757 and upgrading it!
Here endith the ranting.
Yet, the plane is such a money maker, Delta is im the process of pulling 10 out of the desert and spending the money on heavy checks because the 321s and 737-900 just can't deliver the numbers promised. The 757 is a good airplane but is expensive to operate. What killed the 757 was money, or lack of it.
My chieftain has pitch mode, altitude hold, and glideslope. Altitude select? Vertical speed? Witchcraft!Back in my day, you had to press "alt slt" if you wanted the FD to stop at the number you spun, like a crippled driver with a spinny arm thingie, in to the window. You airline rookies couldn't handle it, I'm sure.
Oh, and if you're doing more than 1500fpm when (if) it decides to capture, secure all loose articles and prepare for burn.
