Airline Pilot's Daily Diet

So I'm curious for all the new guys and vets on here, what does your daily food intake look like from start to finish of your trips? Also what should be avoided, and what are some good tips in regards to eating healthy on the road?

Thank you in advance from us young folk.

Some folks carry food, I mainly see that at regionals. I always carry some sort of snack in my bag that has protein, like nuts or small protein bars in case I am unable to eat for a bit. My airline has decent catering and I just try to eat the healthy stuff and leave the roll and dessert. It's often tough to find decent food at hotels and in airports but if you put a little effort into it and don't take the lazy route and get what's closest or easiest, you can eat reasonably healthy. Without hesitation, it's darn near impossible to eat like I do at home though, so I try to exercise daily at work.

Kind of "whatever".

My last trip:
Day one, took the FO out to Koreatown for Korean food in LA. Various meats, booze.
Day two, chorizo breakfast burrito at central market, salad in SEA
Day three, bagel then gumbo and beer in MSY
Day four, cereal bar, enchiladas in CLT, house margarita
Day five, egg white delight, went home.

I'll usually eat out for half the trip. Part of it is cost and part of it is because I don't want to eat out every night. I'll pack soups, canned tuna, fruit, nuts, cookies, chips, etc.

I bring RXbars and Larabars, nuts/seeds, protein shakes, and eat about 100 calories every two hours. At dinner if I've had a good day I look for lean protein and a vegetable.

If I've had a bad day all bets are off. I really try to exercise at least 30 minutes each day, even if it's just taking a walk. We sit on our butts so much it really takes work to avoid packing on the pounds. My weight yoyo's as a result.

Right now I'm desperately trying to fit into my new uniform pants.

Nutrition on the road is the same as at home. Eat like a fat person and you're going to get fat. You can't out train bad nutrition.

How many treadmill miles does that equal? ;)

Breakfast is usually just a peanut butter/banana protein shake in the morning at home. I eat out of the lunchbox at work, usually a salad, sandwich or leftovers and fruit to snack on. Dinner is back at home, whatever the wife makes. I haven't bought airport food since I did multi-day trips at the regional gig. I do miss the clam chowder in BOS and the LGA salad bar wasn't bad either.

Morning: Hotel Breakfast, or if too early of a showtime - catering sandwich
Lunch: Catering
Dinner: Some more catering
4th meal: Beer and whatever the local delicacy is. Or maybe I'm still on the damn plane and some more catering.

Roger this is the best thing I've read on the forum in a long time. Thanks.
I would like it twice if I could.

Bacon. All the bacon I can find.
