I once had someone ask about whether or not it would be feasible to smuggle "stuff" in the horizontal stabilizer of a Gulfstream. While it would probably be easily achieved, I was not impressed with this persons ambitions and he was fired later that day.

Gulfstreams are some of the current smugglers choice of aircraft. Gone are the days of DC-3s, Piper Aztecs and Beech 18s. Replaced by Gulfstream IIs & IIIs at bargain basement prices, Saberliner 60s/75s/80s, and Lear 25/35s at cheap costs as well. Crews in slacks and white shirts, instead of jeans and t-shirts. Even flight plans filed.

Pending you make it, it indeed is. The whole hiding in plain sight by 'mixing in with the system', instead of trying to avoid the system with things such as low level flying across the border and such, makes them much harder to find or sort out from everyone else; as opposed to the old days. They look like any other corporate jet/crew coming in and out of places these days. The cartels have certainly learned to adapt and move up. Some of these planes, older airliners included, have some nice upgrades to them.
