Cocaine Smuggled on American

Not the first time that's happened. They found some hidden behind the CB panel on the captain's side on an AA 757 once.

I take that to mean the plane made it's arrival/landing in MIA, and was previously scheduled for mtx but the MIA mtx facility couldn't fit it in, so it was then sent from MIA-TUL to the mtx hub there to have the work done.
 
Seems odd they would go public with it - why not wait until you catch the receiver in MIA. Guy is probably long gone now.

Once??!!! LOL! Happened damned near every other flight during the eighties and nineties, not to mention that the "authorities" were often the drop recipients. Probably still happens frequently, just in different packaging...combined de-odorously* into mundane carry-on objects. The war on drugs isn't about reducing supply. It's about controlling the supply chain, distribution channels, and profit sharing. Someone give me a "harumph" and round up the usual suspects. *yeah, that's a word, sort of...;)

I'm pretty sure I read at one time that some contraband was found on a few airplanes undergoing scraping at boneyards several years ago. Perhaps @MikeD would know more. At any rate, looks like someone will be getting a Columbian necktie.
 
When I was furloughed and with Gemini, we were taxing out at Bogota at about 3am in a DC-10.Not another plane or vehicle was moving anywhere on the airport that we could see, but ground made us stop in a dark hole by the military ramp. We sat there for about 15 minutes and then they let us continue to taxi. Captain turned to everyone in the cockpit and said, " I wonder how much cocaine is in the wheel wells tonight." And he wasn't kidding.

So, you're saying all those folks they keep finding stowed away in the wells aren't looking for free travel, but really just protecting their "personal items"?? ;)
