fatal KTUS crash

There was a shooting at Davis Monthan? I haven't seen anything about that yet. Is everyone alright there?

The active shooter turned out to be nothing. Someone "heard what sounded like gunshots" in the area.

The King air was on takeoff headed to Mexico.

Wow, came pretty damn close to the terminal...good thing no airliners were on the way to/from the gates on the backside. I always spend some time up on the garage where the video was filmed after dropping off the rental car. The pic in the first post, I believe, is just to the left and out of frame of this shot(unrelated shot, trucks were there for a fuel spill). Surreal.

Here is a video pax took from in the terminal, looks to be the gate the MD-80 is on in the pic. WOW. Crazy...just imagine being a nervous flyer and gazing upon this. Much respect to the rampers who run off only to come back with a large fire extinguisher to try and lend a hand, though I doubt they were allowed near the crash.

Happened on the south side of the terminal ramp there, as pictured. Had any jet been pushed back from, or taxiing into A5/6/7 there, there's a very good chance the King Air would've impacted them as it crashed. And that would've been hell.

Or had it traveled just a few yards further South into the garage...horrific accident that could have been much worse for sure.

Had it made it past/through/over the west garage entrance wall between the flightline there, defintely. All kinds of bad possibilities.

Bad fuel? Power lever crepted back?

If he just took delivery and had a mechanic look it over I doubt something mechanical went wrong. It will be interesting to see what was the cause.

Pretty surreal as I was standing where post accident was filmed just the day prior. This accident could have been way way worse.
