American 767 RTO at ORD

Thank you for the information. Indeed very interesting. Is that something with the newer models of aircraft, or is it something standard or retrofitted to older types like MD80, etc?

Seems like all of the jets I've flown.

The only difference between MAX MED and LO on the Airbus is the delay in applying the brakes.

MAX for TO. LO for normal use. MED for the "Well, when you run off the end of the runway, the NTSB is going to wonder "why" you weren't using MED brakes"

South 75's have it, North 75's do not. Which is odd.

That's not the first time I've hard something like that about the 757. Apparently, AA hated the 757s they picked up from TWA because they had some significant cockpit differences from their own(and some truly heinous leases because of TW's terrible credit rating). Coincidentally, most of them ultimately ended up with Delta.

You don't remember?

FLCH button on the ER. Several of our northern brothers pronounced it "felch."

Nah, I was emoting my reaction when I was asked to "felch" by the captain and I had never heard FL CH referred to as that.

Ummm I think you need to return the books sir.

It's a delay and the rate of deceleration itself is higher for MED versus LO. I think that's what he was trying to get but in a smartass way.

Are you sure?
Mostly.
LO brakes are applied 4s after touchdown* and decelerate at 1.7m/sec
MED brakes are applied after 2s at a rate of 3m/sec

Only felt MAX in the sim, and I hope you aren't taking a sip of coffee.

* when spoiler are activated, all things being equal, at touchdown.
