Free in-house Delta Pilot Job Fair

And it's also moot because the running rumot is to wear a navy blue suit, white shirt, red tie to a Delta interview. If one does that, then they aren't assembling clothes on their own. Now, to your point, I have absolutely no idea if Delta recruiters really care if you wear that suit or a Don Cherry suit.

Always crossing Virginia avenue, you see guys in the above and the first thought is, "Oh, must be conducting interviews today, huh…"

Just look sharp and wear it well, whatever it is.

Remember, your competition is.

That's like wearing the shirt of the band youre going to see.
How so? My company's uniform mimics yours. Other than the double breasted coat, hat, and emblem on the wings. Other than that, same same. I can make myself look good in a suit, which I will never wear for a prospective employer. That doesn't mean I'll spend the money to have a uniform tailored. If I have a uniform tailored at least you know I have at least one to wear while on duty.

That being said, I have seen some truly sorry excuses for "professional" in uniform since I started going on walkabouts through the concourse

I'll agree with that. Was merely just a question. Wasn't trying to troll, this time. Just out of pure curiosity.

There's no doubt about that. I'm sure I'm one. The shoulder harnesses on the 200 ALWAYS leave black stripes on my shoulders. I look GREAT walking from gate to gate during a swap or catching a commute.

Standing in line at Starbucks (getting my hot chocolate @ClarkGriswold ;)...kidding) had a UA guy behind me say "you must fly the CRJ." I said yeah. "I could tell from the black marks." Classy.
 
My theory is low profile with attire. You will stand out in a uniform IMO. Why do that when your competitors are all in suits? Stand out through your resume and one on one not from what you wear. In my experience, OBAP and WAI have atendees that are there for other functions that wear their uniform for each event. Everyone who is there specifically for the job fair wears a suit. Plus they'll know you're a Captain now by your resume ;)

That's different. I'm speaking more to the pilots with weird shiny dress pants, bowling shoes/reeboks, etc
 
Ok so if you don't have Delta's mins right now, would it be a good idea to go? I would still like to hear what Delta has to offer, but at the same time I don't want to look like a Doofensmirtz by going and they look at me like - and you came here expecting,..........?!?!?!?!?

I think they ask if you don't meet the minimums, leave the spot for someone who does. It really wouldn't help.

Or you could wear the blazer :) just because it's optional doesn't mean leave it in the closet for 6 months during summer.

It is critical you follow Delta's instructions to the letter. That Facebook page says you "must" meet their minimums to attend. It would not help you, and in fact I believe it would hurt you, if you signed up and didn't meet the mins if you received a slot.

This is one of many chances Delta gives applicants to pay attention to the details.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me. Some of the never hire screw ups are pretty trivial.

Had a friend get put on the never hire list at UA. He was arrested because his ex wife claimed he beat her. The state he lives in, someone is going to jail if the police are called for something like that. He had already been called in for an interview, and this happened in the interim. He called to tell the recruiter (apparently, said fellow has a video on YouTube about integrity), at which point he was berated, yelled at, and told he'd never work at United!" Thing is, it was a false charge, he called to tell them to show integrity, and was then told he had none for lying on his app.

Do not do this.

People do! And they get to meet HR and corporate security. But there's no relish tray or finger sandwiches at the Big Brown Table during that meeting.

He had numerous international recs. He prepped through Emerald. But the charge was added between the time where he got invited to interview, and was supposed to do the interview. It wasn't Emeralds fault.
