daily pic

Sorry, not the best quality from my iPhone @FL230, but thought I'd share. Flying over my childhood home on the way home from an airshow last week (just above the I-5 interchange, near Autzen Stadium near the river bend)

Another shot over Crater Lake, OR en route

@///AMG , I didn't know you're from EUG! That's awesome :)

If I'd known you were going to be at the HIO Airshow, I'd have popped down and gotten some shots of you

Yeah man, born and raised :) Some pilots (I think CFI's) from ATP came out to chat right before I tried to leave the first time (jet broke shortly thereafter and kept me in PDX for another 4 days). One of them was a Lane Flight Tech grad, same 141 school I did back in the day. Pretty cool!

I do love the EUG overnight's...can't wait to see if I can snag some this fall/make it to a Duck's game...Autzen has one incredible atmosphere (plus, it never rains there...according to legend...)

haha well that legend is a lie, but you are right that it does have a great atmosphere. There is a minority of Duck fans who are real obnoxious, but overall, it is a great place to tailgate and watch a game. Actually, a big chunk of the regular season is during the best weather months of the year, so there is that. It doesn't get better than late summer (which I'd argue continues through the end of September) and fall in OR and the PNW!

here is a random video of me landing the friday afternoon prior to the show, shot by a visiting plane spotter. There are some big tall trees and power lines real close to the approach end of RWY31L that I hadn't anticipated, and that coupled with a short runway (6600') and wanting to plant it right on the threshold, I took a little too much power off after clearing the trees, and was basically in min burner on touchdown to stop the sink rate. Not my smoothest landing by a long shot……

Good to know that you fly an "E" model, and not an "F". Or else we'd have to run you out of these parts...

nice, I did my initial T-45 CQ on the old Stennis. I didn't know what I didn't know at the time, or how scary it probably was….
