Future GTA VI Pilot
Ok...need some advice...want a nice pair of shoes but need to know what is good and bad for the airline lifestyle. I'm currently CFI'ing so something that can last me a 10 hour day that are comfortable and don't get torn up or look like crap from the cockpit.

I know some dress shoes can be really uncomfortable for long periods of time....everyday...

I have been wearing Rockport dress shoes of various types since I started. All day long comfortable, available in a waterproof form, and not as expensive as Ecco. Just make sure to get non-slip rubber soles. Rockport makes some with a soft foam outsole that are comfortable but like walking on ice if you get deicing fluid soaked into them. Summer only for those.
 
I've used Dockers Proposals for a long time. They are supposed to be security friendly, but I began having problems with the last pair, though not all the time. Supposedly, most Florsheim, Clarks and Doc Martens are security friendly, but it varies with the shoe.

Concur ECCO. One of their many varieties of slip-ons.
BTW, the best aviators (not necessarily the most nattily attired) I know wear boots. I'm not yet good enough to be one of those cool kids.

I have a pair of these Blondo boots. Most comfortable thing I have ever worn. There are quite a few pilots up here wearing them. They aren't slick on ice, and they zip up on the side making them easy to get on and off.
