PSA came today and gave us some good kool aid. HR said they were opening ORD soon?
When I worked there we were always days away from opening a CAK base.
Oh I know. It didn't slow that rumor train for one second though.CAK and PIT would never be reopened when TK and Hauk ran things because they'd have had to admit they were wrong in closing them in the first place.
It could happen now (well, obviously not PIT) though.
Mainline has no issues staffing. Too bad there aren't 20 more e190s that are about to be available. Oh, wait...CPs have said to multiple recurrent ground classes that ORD is the next base. Latest I've heard is that they plan on announcing it sooner rather than later to help in recruiting pilots. The thing about ORD is that it was basically predicated on the 700s from Envoy being transferred (because, surprise surprise, they were the only reason for us having an ORD crew base). Well it looks like we will reach a fleet size of 115 aircraft in 2016 because the transfer of Envoy's 700s are being deferred by AAG until 2017 at the earliest. So an ORD base and ORD flying will likely mean reduced lines in current bases I'm guessing?
I don't really see how they are going to achieve a 150 aircraft fleet without doing something more to attract new hires. And instead of getting ahead of the problem and fixing it sooner rather than later, they have already come out and said that they are going to just offer bonuses until that doesn't work, then try something else. Either way, I'm thinking a lot of what they try will ultimately fail because they are being reactionary to the problem, and not proactive about fixing it.

Speaking of staffing... PSA is reducing their flow to to 2 pilots a month for June and July at least.
