CAK and PIT would never be reopened when TK and Hauk ran things because they'd have had to admit they were wrong in closing them in the first place.

It could happen now (well, obviously not PIT) though.

Oh I know. It didn't slow that rumor train for one second though.

CPs have said to multiple recurrent ground classes that ORD is the next base. Latest I've heard is that they plan on announcing it sooner rather than later to help in recruiting pilots. The thing about ORD is that it was basically predicated on the 700s from Envoy being transferred (because, surprise surprise, they were the only reason for us having an ORD crew base). Well it looks like we will reach a fleet size of 115 aircraft in 2016 because the transfer of Envoy's 700s are being deferred by AAG until 2017 at the earliest. So an ORD base and ORD flying will likely mean reduced lines in current bases I'm guessing?

I don't really see how they are going to achieve a 150 aircraft fleet without doing something more to attract new hires. And instead of getting ahead of the problem and fixing it sooner rather than later, they have already come out and said that they are going to just offer bonuses until that doesn't work, then try something else. Either way, I'm thinking a lot of what they try will ultimately fail because they are being reactionary to the problem, and not proactive about fixing it.

Mainline has no issues staffing. Too bad there aren't 20 more e190s that are about to be available. Oh, wait...

I don't think mainline anywhere will ever have true staffing issues. I will say that AA seems to be running in the opposite direction of UA and DA. Reducing the number of 100 seat mainline aircraft (and shrinking overall) while DA and UA are actively seeking to add smaller aircraft to their mainline fleet. And I'll be the first to admit that their overall strategy doesn't seem to make much sense right now. They want to keep their cheap regional feed alive by staffing their regionals. But they don't want to up the pay and improve their regional contracts to maintain their relatively cheap regional feed? I'll be the first to admit I think that AA is marching in the wrong direction. But I admittedly have no clue what their overall vision for the airline is.

Parker or Kirby, can't remember which, said they liked the A319 over the E190/100 seaters for economies of scale reasons. The operating cost wasn't that much more and it was that much more of an airplane. Now, will they buy some A319's? Only time will tell.

As far as downsizing goes that is pretty normal after mergers. Remember Delta (8 years) and United (6 years) merged years ago. AA closed their merger not even 1.5 years ago. I'm encouraged by the reducing of the different fleet types. I only wish they had foregone the 737's and ordered A320s, but I understand that wasn't an option just because of the huge order that would've required and they couldn't wait to retire the MD80's.

Speaking of staffing... PSA is reducing their flow to to 2 pilots a month for June and July at least. Contractually, they are required to flow the pilots that miss out by the end of the year, but I'm not holding my breath on that one... Every effort to staff PSA to this point has only made it less attractive to potential new hires.

Hey guys. I don't know if you guys can help. I did the PSA interview last week, did a good job and got the FO position. The CA recruiter asked me to email the HR department to start the hiring process what I did as soon as I came at my hotel room but since that no contact from them. Is it normal these 2 weeks without contact from them ? I refused others companies waiting for a contact from PSA. I'm starting getting nervous
