They were long enough ago I wouldn't worry about them. I'd say most people on the ASA side of Surejet were floating around the same amount of occurrences.

Ok, let me rephrase, at facilities with mandatory 6 day weeks if you have sick leave left at the end of the year people look at you with suspicion.

I had a couple occurrences when I was at ASA. Got the flu mid trip and went into the CP office in ATL on a turn to let them know I was not feeling well and needed to sick out. CP looked at me and said, " You have an application in at Delta don't you? I will let them know about your sick calls." I went home and was in bed for a few days sick as a dog. Never did get that call from the big D. If it was due to the occurrences I will never know.

Don't do what I did, which is start your trip sick, almost have an ear drum explode on an arrival, then finally cry uncle. Now you're sick on the road and either need to risk the deadheads home or try and get better in some dirty hotel room. It was dumb and I won't do it again.

Is there a reason that you went to the CPO to do that instead of just calling Crew Control, or were you feeling particularly persnickety?
(I don't go downstairs, other than to shoot the breeze with the admin, unless I absolutely have to.)

II was told I needed to go see a CP when I tried that route. So I did.

I've not once had to talk to a chief pilot about calling in sick, emergency, or otherwise "not happenin'".

My base chief pilot knows me by name without looking at a badge.
A wise CA once told me that it's better to get to know your base staff before you get in trouble rather than as a result of it.

If they are so concerned with your sick calls, shouldn't that be a problem as well?
I'm at risk for getting one of those letters in my file if I get sick soon. Eff it. If I'm sick, I sure as hell ain't going to work. Simple as that. Go ahead, put that letter in my file. I honestly feel like this should be a major issue with the department of Labor, and the FAA. One of the very first things we are taught to earn that first certificate is the "IMSAFE" checklist. Now that I fly a Barbie Jet, I'm supposed to just disregard that? Nope. Like I said, for that letter, "where do I sign?"

I did not. A few months later I resigned and went Corporate. Haven't flown 121 in 9 years, I suppose everything happens for a reason.
