Horizon

I think it is extremely unlikely that the jets will go to Alaska. Nobody has said anything that even hinted at that. All of the proposals have been about how the jets are going to expand Horizon's market, which I take to mean longer routes and farther destinations in the lower 48.
I would have been just as skeptical if I heard it from a check airman. But it was from our DO, which means slightly more.

IIRC the EJets are RNP .1. There might be some issues putting the approaches on the Horizon cert if the internet rumors about them only being legal because of grandfather clauses are true but I'm sure AS can just build new ones for Horizon off the Delta approaches. Probably be easier just to put the EJets on the AS cert right @SmoothLanderJ @Cheechako ?

I like how you think! I could only wish though, we'd love to have the 190 for sure.

Is there any rumors about their pay scale changing? I know they just got a new contract with the new aircraft.
Thanks

No...Alaska Air Group lives on the "People want to live in the PacNW", and won't offer up more money till they have trouble filling classes. QX has had issues lately, but till it affects AS' bottom line, we'll continue to be the "redheaded step child". Here soon the QX bing cherry and maroon will ride off to the sunset...what's left of it anyways.

Sad since not long ago they were a leader in the regional industry not long ago.

Only took 6 months for them to fall from the top to the bottom of the pile.
This place has gone down hill in the few short years that I have been here. I would highly suggest going to Compass or SkyWest before coming here. Nothing that has been previously posted has changed for the better. It is sad.

Both those companies are hurting our recruiting numbers, and it's hilarious. We want 8 in our next class, and we have one. There may be a raise in our future.

This really is not good news for me, I really don't want to go to skywest but if they have a more stable future than QX I may have to make that choice. @SurferLucas what are class sizes looking like these days?

Trust this guy, he knows what being on the bottom of the pile is like... ;)

Why don't you want to go to Skywest?

It is nothing against Skywest. It is about qol and commuting, at this point I cannot move and uproot my family to a skywest base. Commuting to msp, ord den or sfo sounds like a drop in qol. Horizon would be a better chance of pdx, if not all bases are within an hour flight or worse case scenario a 4-8 hour drive.

Aren't you already at Ravn? What does the type of -8 matter and doesn't Ravn pay a whole lot more than Horizon?
Lots of stuff up in the air on the Corvus side with low oil prices and the sale of the D model 1900s falling through, they are fat on pilots right now. Size doesn't matter to me, but I am looking to move back to multi turbine before too long.

Don't forget Compass has a junior-ish Seattle base.

I will also add that our Portland schedules aren't half bad.

Noon show on day one, pdx-cec-pdx-acv-rdd.

Next afternoon rdd-pdx-cec

Day three is cec-pdx-oth-pdx-RDD

Day four is rdd-acv-pdx-acv-pdx and done by 1pm
