Delta Takes Delivery of Its First A321

CirrusMonkey

No Real Usefulness
The carrier took delivery of the aircraft, registered N301DN and MSN 6923, in Hamburg on 16 March, it says. It will ferry the aircraft to its Atlanta base on 17 March.

Was your friend potentially going to go fly this back but didn't get to go? That would be alot of fun!

We have a mutual friend that listened to a certain individual and will not only be able to NOT fly this, but overfly a certain city each way on his commute he could have been based in to go fly a 1950s Boeing product. Talk about fun!

Bidding advice from a new hire. I think he's learned his lesson! :)

"Wait wait wait, even after I said 'bid what you WANT, WANT what you bid' you still thought you were smarter than an 18 year employee?" :)

Horse… Water…. Why don't he drink? :)

Oh hold on here....

You gave advice to said individual and he listened to the new hire?

Did I want to fly the bus? absolutely because it provides the most room in the cockpit and of course the tray table. However, the boeing had more movement and more possibilities of getting back west. 3 bases vs 1 base. Yes @Derg said bid what you want and want what you bid, and I think I did that because i was bidding solely on QOL of short commute vs what airplane I was going to fly. Could I have gotten to slc faster if i took the bus? absolutely after this last AE, but that was notoriously senior in SLC vs the boeing until this AE......and besides @Seggy i'd never fly the 321 anyways since it's not going to be going west.

Oh and @ClarkGriswold , great advice bro

Old man advice #4,132: "Don't overthink it"

Primarily people overanalyze the data at hand and forget about the core tenet of bidding ("Bid what you want, want what you bid, yadda yadda yadda")

Say for example if I really wanted to fly the 777 in LAX. Just to mess with the Wookiee I'll say I'd bid LAX777A, even though I may be a 2015 hire. There might be 4 trillion people that are senior to me with bid preferences in for that, but 3.999 trillion may have qualifiers like percentages, "bid above/below", regular line only (which really means nothing because you can get a regular line being the plug in the category) so when the AE runs, it's going to filter out the senior people whose qualifiers can't be met.

And there you are, LAX777A and everyone's exclaiming "WAT?! How do HE get THAT? What a world… what a world…" :)

I gotta mess with you. It's way better than me sending you to your first day of ground school impeccably dressed in a three piece suit like @amorris311 right? ;)

Go get 'em tiger!
