Hageland is hiring

Hasn't pilot pool already started to thin out? Like back in 2014?

They hire/interview 3-4 months out? Anyone know why?

I imagine someone accepting the job & looking elsewhere for better opportunity within that long wait period to start class. If nothing else out there...well Hagland/Era it is for them. With higher starting pay all over the CONUS Part 91 121 & 135, I can only see it getting harder for these guys to fill classes.

Sheeesh! Their hiring process, time-line & training process will need to change. Like soon, before next winter. Trust me! This industry will burn Hagland like an STD as pilot pool thins out btw 2016-2025. 1,000 hrs lower mins is a good start, but still a slow start & not enough these next coming months/yrs.

Where are you guys seeing Hageland is currently hiring?
I am looking at the Ravn site and they don't have any pilot openings. On the JSfirm I only see a A&P Mechanic for Palmer which is on the Ravn page as well.

What is the lowest TT they will consider? I have 800TT Commercial SEL, MEL, SES instrument.

It's typically word of mouth. Wet commercial, if they are hiring for Van fo spots. Wouldnt take you long to get to 1,000.

We have a big aviation conference happening in February NW Aviation Conference. Hopefully they will be here again like they were last year.

I guess I'll bring a fresh resume :)

I went to the website and I read that you have to submit an FBI background check to.
??????

Also note: All new hires must pass a drug test, a thorough background check including a criminal records check and an FBI fingerprint-based criminal history records check.

Where's the "you must submit" part??

Drug tests are customary for 135 operators in AK. I wouldn't be surprised if all 135 and 121 operators nationwide do them as a condition of employment.

The criminal background check is also customary. I've heard it's because of USPS rules regarding handling of Bypass Mail, but that's secondhand info. @ppragman may be able to shine some light on it.

I'm pretty sure the fingerprint part applies to people who get SIDA badges for ANC and FAI.

Drug tests and background checks are required per the DOT for all certificated (91k, 135, 121) carriers. If you're going to fly for a living, well I'm not sure how you haven't figured that out yet, but get used to them. Oh and 91 tour operations have to have a drug program in place to.

Yes, yes, no questions there. :)

Was responding to other poster about Submitting an FBI Background check. I think he's confused as you don't submit it, they run it on you. Although I have seen it worded sometimes as You Must Submit To An FBI background check, but again, you don't submit it with your app, they run it on you if you're hired.

What is the pay for a new FO at Hageland current TT 809 MEL 50?
From what I hear, FOs are paid approximately $70/day. Once they reach 1000 hours they are upgraded to the 207, and earn $230/day.

FOs fly 60-80 hours/shift (each shift is two weeks long). So in your case, you would probably start training in a sled during your fourth shift.

I have been told that they categorically are not interested and will not hire people who want to get to 1,500 hours and then leave for a regional. For people who do want to go the regional route, they can transfer internally to the 121 side of the house where they fly Dash 8s. A friend is one of their newest captains: his upgrade time was 24 months.

Word is that there will be a ground school in March.

I was talking to a few folks at the conference we had this weekend and I heard the FO job is very physically demanding including manually loading the cargo and I guess deicing the aircraft. Sounds like that would be tough work for me when I was 30 years younger than I am now. I am thinking I may have to wait until I can qualify for the 121 side if I can ever get that many hours. Darn it.

Being a Hageland FO and also a Captain, you will fuel, deice, load and unload your own plane. Not just every once in a while, but every day. Some days you'll fly 10 legs some days 20. That's not to say there isn't help, but generally you'll be the one who is always involved with getting your plane turned.

135 pilot - The Pilot, dispatcher, meteorologist, loadmaster, baggage/freight handler and all around 1 man show.

For us dispatch has been taken out of our hands, which is nice. OCC based out of Palmer releases us or kicks it up the food chain if certain conditions are met.
