Weve been losing quite a few people to Atlas lately, FAs included. Im curious if anyone here has any info on what they're wanting in an applicant?

This has changed over the years. For a while it seemed like they wanted people that had flown for another ACMI (if you're unfamiliar with this term it's places like Kalitta, Omni, World, Southern, etc). More recently they seemed to have started taking a lot more regional guys. As far as actually getting a call I can tell you that my friends that have been successful showed continued interest, i.e. app on file and updated regularly and some went to job fairs also. An internal recc goes a long way as well. Times and experience all over the board. If you're interested, regardless of your experience, I would apply and try to network as best you can to get some internal help.

I had about 2600tt when I did my phone interview. Unfortunately I never heard back afterwards, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for who gets called

I applied for 5 years and then finally got the call. 5k tt 3k TPIC, some apply once and get called. A lot of the lower time guys have addresses near the bases but that could just be conjecture as well.

What are the 767 trips like? Are you gone as much as the 747? Are they commutable?
Looking at the trips is pointless because at best it is 50/50 you will fly the trips on your line, you bid days, and even than that is iffy at best.

I've been on both fleets, and going on 9 years with the company. Both fleets have you out 17 days, and nothing is really commutable to your base.

If you aren't qualified to get a PIC type in a level C sim you will get the 747. Otherwise, it's a toss up.

That being said, I can not recommend that anyone come here for the foreseeable future.

We're presently 40% underpaid compared to our peers. The company is one of the most profitable in terms of percentages and they continuously look for ways to spend their cash to reduce their tax burden. They have proposed concessionary terms to us and expect to grow the pilot group by 25%.

It took me 5 years to make more than I did at my job at the commuter.

Buyer be ware.

Disappoints the hell out of me, too. There's a strong chance of me upgrading on the 767 this year.

But, unless they change their tune, and right quick, I'm out. No chance I'll stick around with a management team trying to give us a concessionary contract in this market. Completely and utterly daft.

I had no idea it had gotten so bad there so quickly. That kind of sucks.

We are facing the same issue here to some extent. Our first year pay is lower than any of the other majors/legacies (by an order of 200% in some cases) and lower than more than a few of the regionals now. However management says that's not a problem because there is a steady stream of south rampers who will come over at any price so they can stay here. I've done my time with 250 hour wonders in the right seat. I'd rather not do that again (with 1500 hour wonders).

Yup, same issue here. They think they can just hire their way out of any attrition problems, so they're using the 2009 union busting playbook. For some reason they think they can add 25+ airplanes with a massively substandard contract. It's a shame, really. I'd love to stay.

It's not if...but when!
