National Association of Airline Professionals (NAAP)

Read my post a couple above to Mel. As long as we are in the TWU, we are screwed. The international negotiates for all. And no disrespect meant, but as long as we are in the same union as fleet service, we will never get what our colleagues at Delta and Southwest get.

I understand and agree completely. In my eyes TWU just 'bought' themselves two years. Company publicly stated they are ready to talk and mentioned 'industry leading wages.'

Pilots and FA got Delta money. If TWU screws this up, they will be out the door first opportunity.

I have to laugh that is the exact argument from the mechanics as well. When I was a mechanic at NWA when we tried to rid ourselves of the IAM because we were lumped in with ticket agents and ramp and stores and we finally dumped the IAM for AMFA we are verbally attacked and called elitists when all we wanted to do is have our own representation unique to our needs. One thing that benefits dispatchers is at least the NMB recognizes you as a class and craft unique to just you. Unlike me where the NMB has us classified in mechanics and "related" where we are forced to take unlicensed and others into our group no matter what the union. You are right I hope both the dispatchers and mechanics at AA can rid themselves of the TWU..Good Luck to You.

Us Dispatchers are such a small group. It's really important for us to have "special interest" unions. It's disgusting that we've been grouped into a union that is NOT a Dispatch Union. What's the TWU represent as far as Bus and Subway operators?!? Probably well over 200,000. The TWU needs to get out of Dispatch representation. We have to be the 2nd smallest group of people that they represent behind Sim Technicians.

The TWU is definitely screwing this up. The meetings between the two locals were cancelled last month. Negotiation meetings with the company were cancelled last week. Why?

They consolidated Locals 542 and 545. 9 airlines and yes, the international will continue to meddle.

The new local is 549.

The international spent 100k of local 542 treasury in the civil suit against the former board. The next 100k will come from the members of 9 airlines. Not a dime out of the international treasury. That's how they roll.

Any word on the latest status of that civil suit? Sounds like they are spending far more money than they would ever recover even if they get a verdict they like...which I would think is far from certain.

Next step is the trial. No date yet. They don't care about spending money, it's right out of the members dues. That's how they roll.

A few dispatchers started a fundraiser to help the former board. They think the lawsuit was bs. They raised 30k.

Damn. Would this be a ploy to do what L-US pilots did with L-AW making a block representation? Something smells...

Some believe it's all about the lawsuit. They took the smaller local, with a third of the treasury, and made that president the interim president.

This only serves the purposes of the international.

Can you imagine how many gift cards and cashiers checks that could have been? It's almost like they stole the money right out of your treasury.....
