I tried. Hit :18.
I know it's the new thing on the Delta side to stand up and say hello, but there is a difference in putting a face and clear message behind what would only be a "Charlie Brown PA" and trying to create a show. Unless you know by a side job paying good bucks that you are entertaining (talking standup comedy here, remove gutter implications), why would someone embarrass themselves AND the rest of the crew with bafoonary?
Hello, good "time of day", thanks for flying XYZ mainline. Today the flight time is xx:xx and the weather along our route should be smooth/ has some storms we will work around/ may be a little bumpy/ etc. if delayed, apologize and give a best guess time, if on time, state everything is running on time. Welcome aboard, hope you enjoy the flight. Less than :30 seconds unless you are dealing with delays that need a little more (15 second and basic) explanation.
I've seen too many folks, mainline and regional, turn this into a play by play or try and make it some sort of entertainment venue. Embarrassing for the profession. If it's a simple hello and pax brief with the customers seeing the person flying, that seems to be a good thing by review. Slippery slope.
