United hiring DSCs

The way things are going a job as a dsc puts you in the most likely position to get into ual dispatch. It's possible the current class may have grabbed a dsc with less than 6 months exp.

Also it's likely another 1-2 Ual classes this year and it's likely to continue for the following year if not longer. The risk overall is low being stuck as a dsc due to lack of hiring. Get the exp, meet the dispatch leadership, study for the test and you should be golden assuming you succeed as a dsc.

I may be talking about the same person. There is someone in this Jan class who didn't make get offered a spot in the Sept class and was offered a DSC spot. 3 months only as a DSC and moving up already.. Granted this person had 3 years dispatch experience already.

I'm sure we are. It's surprising they removed the 1 year minimum before transferring due to the constant turnover and training required. O well, works in the favor of those looking for a quicker in.

I was the last one year minimum victim. No worries tho. The dsc deal is the best thing going. They used to be called fic's flight info coordinator. There is a whole what I call "fic mafia" at UAL as the position goes back decades. It's nice to be part of.

Depends.

Are you single or does your spouse have a job?

Can you tolerate an hour and 15 minute commute to work each way?

Are you not too particular about your neighbors?

If you answer yes to all of these questions 40k is very doable at Continited.

40k is absolutely doable in Oak Park IMO renting from a Landlord. Commute time to Big Willy? Driving - 10-12mins on weekends or outside peak hours. 20 during rush hour. Taking the L - 20-25 mins

they used to advertise on the job opening that the pay was around 45k (ish) then they stopped posting the amount, a co-worker of mine got a job with them a year ago and told me she starts with 61K BUT she pays close to 700 a month in health insurance !!!
