it's happening... [united hiring]

Hello United,

I was wondering if you guyswill be hiring anytime soon? Unlike some of the people on here (not knocking anyone), it's always been my dream to work for United and live in the city.

Just some advice if you plan on working for United... NETWORK. Almost all of the interviews done in the past several rounds of hiring were based on recommendations from current dispatchers. And I don't mean have fake friends on this forum who will recommend you without ever having worked with you in the past... the chances of getting an interview/hired without a recommendation are close to nil.

PM me when you can.

Agreed 100%

From what I was told, they ONLY interviewed people with recommendations last round. They said they had over 450 applications and I think interviewed over 60 people, and hired 18. Next class will only be 10-12, they will not do another class as large as the last one.

That's what they said after they hired a class of 17 in April 2015...

I'm kind of surprised they only had 450 applicants. I would have expected well into the thousands. There are a lot of us out there that all have the same focus of getting on with a major!

Thousands? I don't think there's that many qualified dispatchers out there that aren't already at a major. Id say 450 sounds about right.

I've recommended people that I haven't worked with. However, I never have recommended anyone that I haven't met in person. Everyone has their own criteria I suppose.

We all know that just because they aren't qualified it doesn't prevent them from putting an app in. I've heard SWA gets in the thousands and figured about the same for the big 6 (UPS/FedEx). Clearly that could be misguided information though.

Southwest doesn't or at least didn't require a license, so of course anyone and their mom is going to apply for that. There's just simply not that many licensed dispatchers out there who aren't already at a major. Probably around 500 at the regionals collectively, and that's on the high side. Throw in all the other 135, supplemental guys and there's really just not that many to be getting 1,000s of apps.
