So irresponsible.
Really?

It's a job fair. You're going to stand around in a suit for hours and then try to talk to a few people for a few minutes and appear likable when you do so. It's not rocket science, and it's certainly not enough to preclude someone from having a couple of beers with friends the night before to try to make the fact that you're probably spending 500+ bucks and some days off on approximately 90 seconds of face time a slightly more enjoyable experience.

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

No, and that's a big problem apparently. I think it's complete crap these have become mandatory, but I'm planning on attending at least one or two this year.

Not sure about that on the job fairs,I have friends who have gone to several and still not heard anything...

It would be pretty tough to be hung over, 4 hours of sleep, and then wait in line, and finally having to play the game. Makes me queezy just thinking about that situation.

But hey to each their own.

Everyone I know that has gotten on anywhere has gone. You have to go these days.

When I wanted out of my last airline, I went to a number of job fairs (3 a year) the only one that worked to go to was Spirit, all the other ones I never heard anything from. On the flip side I have a buddy who interviewed at UAL without a job fair. I'm not saying don't go to them, it can't hurt. I think, however, its a craps shoot if going actually works

Eh, not really.

@pete2800 I agree if you want to go to a job fair and have a couple of adult beverages by all means DO IT! However, to go out the night before and put yourself in a position where you get four hours of sleep as you closed down the bar...that is irresponsible for yourself, helpful to others though!

They're not "mandatory".

Some airlines, yes, but mine, nope. Internet legend, like the red power tie.

That's great! However, everyone I know at your place that has been interviewed recently went to one. I'm assuming that means something.
