Hageland is hiring

It just always seems people here want Alaska time. I understand it. Partly it is that is very different flying here. But I think they also want to make sure that you are able and willing to live here. Don't want to train up people who bail when they don't like living up here. But I don't know. I put my resume in with Ravn/hageland, 1200TT, 500xc, 260TW, 160 ASES, 300 Alaska, haven't heard anything.

Gotta be persistent with these companies. Check in every so often.

Sorry not familiar with the Alaska aviation terms I am going with a Van is a Caravan but what the heck is a sled driver? Please forgive my ignorance :)

I did some searching is that a Cessna 207?

Wow- sounds like you have the right number of hours. Maybe they like people who don't have the 135 IFR PIC mins so they won't run off to other non-AK jobs?

We just had a class full of Van FOs last month, right now they are mostly looking for sled drivers.

Cool. I am interested in flying the sled. 135 VFR or IFR mins required?

Hagey must be getting a bit desperate for pilots, I got word that they have lowered their sled mins to 1,000 hours. I'm guessing a lot of us from the previous two classes are getting close with the new lowered mins, I heard they had a couple people lined up for a January class but I don't know when the next one is.

They hire/interview 3-4 months out? Anyone know why?

I imagine someone accepting the job & looking elsewhere for better opportunity within that long wait period to start class. If nothing else out there...well Hagland/Era it is for them. With higher starting pay all over the CONUS Part 91 121 & 135, I can only see it getting harder for these guys to fill classes.

Sheeesh! Their hiring process, time-line & training process will need to change. Like soon, before next winter. Trust me! This industry will burn Hagland like an STD as pilot pool thins out btw 2016-2025. 1,000 hrs lower mins is a good start, but still a slow start & not enough these next coming months/yrs.

I think I did my interview and accepted the offer about two months out. Trust me there are many things that me scratch my head. I think they haven't had a hard time finding pilots for so long, if it continues to be a problem pay will probably be next. A lot of people stay here. Some stay because they like it, many can't go anywhere else. The next year or so will be interesting.

When I started I interviewed one day and was in class the next. I'm not sure when that went away but it used to be the norm.
