Methinks I've seen one of these in action. When I was surveying in Columbus I saw a 182 take off at sunset (didn't have the ball camera hanging off like others I'd seen) and spend the next 3-4 hours circling over southwest Columbus. I went to a beer garden with my friends that night, and saw it still circling hours later. What else could they be doing without an IR/Thermal sensor on board?The part that is relatively new is the ability to mimic a cell tower. In some cases, law enforcement has been accused of doing this without a warrant to generate leads that then lead to warrant causes.

They must be getting really good, since the ramp rats that were handling the plane said they'd go out every night for a week straightHolding practice. Turns around a point.
