Air America Daytona Beach FL.

what are their Minimums?

Fresh commercial with instrument rating. The window to apply for this season may have closed, but if you hurry up you might be able to email in your resume and cover letter. Otherwise try to get on with Skylens, Landcare or Northern States.

Phone Calls are being made, Had a phone interview early this week and was called back for a face to face interview in Daytona but I turned it down because i wasn't 100% sure if I would be able to commit to the entire season, hopefully this can help the next person on the list who is really interested. From the phone interview I can say that this company seems like a great company to work for if you can manage the life style.

Looks like I'm going to DAB on Tuesday. Anyone else preparing before hand? I have been studying the Instrument/Commercial Written and Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot.

Looks like I am penciled in to head down next Wednesday. I think I will start studying the instrument/commercial writtens as well.

I'd say it's a bit of a waste honestly. The guy I was interviewing brought his commercial written study guide book down and he didn't get the job, but I did. The questions from there that might be on the test are ones you should already easily know. The 'difficult' questions are the ones that come with flying experience, that many young instructors wouldn't probably be aware of when teaching you, but you may have overheard someone talking about. They may ask you a few scenarios as far as cross country flying or maybe they did that on the phone, but if you get them wrong it's far from the end of the road. Things I learned from the guys I got hired with were that there wasn't too much of a difference in the test scores, some people gave wrong answers on the cross country flying scenarios and at least one guy screwed up the hold on his approach (great pilot, very easy going guy and one of the first that got hired though). It was a very laid back interview and it's mostly about your personality and decision making ability which they'll flush out with all the time you spend together.

On the flying side of things it could help to familiarize yourself with the DAB airport as it can be a little overwhelming at first, but I think the pilot interviewing you should be pretty understanding about that. Be prepared to do an approach and at least be asked on how you'd enter a hold if you don't actually fly one. Also many of the 172s that the new guys start off on only have no GPS or DME so be prepared to shoot an approach as if you were flying it without the best and most reliable of equipment.

Best Daytona Beach memories
Number 7 for takeoff for 7R
Back Course Localilzer 25R and the 15NM Arc (way out over the water)
X50: Massey Ranch NDB 18 (no longer available yes I am old)

I'm scheduled down on Friday. I should have been there by now, but plans got changed with the forecast of the tropical storm.

Sorry for the delayed response. I got back home late last night. Interview apparently went pretty good. They offered me a spot earlier today. For those still interviewing I will just repeat what those have said above. Just relax, show enthusiasm, remain calm, and be personable. Don't go in there while you're waiting around and look bored and mess win your phone. I talked to anyone and anything (fancy water fountain thing in the corner).

Haha.. A lot of people were frequenting that water fountain thing. Everything was really relaxed and everybody seemed eager to answer any questions and help you out. I was lucky enough to be offered a job as well.
