Good luck Republic dudes and dudettes

Sorry, but none of your business. In general, they tend to be private equity firms and hedge funds, but I won't give you actual client names for obvious reasons.

Actually, it is my business.

Unfortunately, there have been to many ALPA Volunteers that got sucked into a consulting or management roles that has led them to negotiate then against the pilots they once represented. So what are you 'consulting' these hedge funds and private equity firms about? What airlines are your clients interested in?

You don't have the right to know that info. I think you realize that but would like to know.

Again, none of your business. But I can assure you that I haven't and won't be taking any clients that expect me to negotiate against pilots or any other member of organized labor. I'm a trade unionist through and through. You know this.

That has been said before in the past by others who have done the same thing you are doing.

I know you say you are. Your actions as a consultant will dictate if that is true or not in the long run.

Don't be a doosh. You know me better than that.

They leave holes to save themselves money. If you got the work rules you wanted, it would cost them a hell of a lot more money. The pay rates are designed to end the staffing problem. Work rules don't get people to show up on property at regional airlines. First year pay rates do.

I would disagree with the last sentence. Pay rates don't get people to show up on property. Upgrade times get people to show up on property. I would guess the majority of new hires have no knowledge of any part of their new company's pilot contract, to include pay rates. The only people who care about pay rates are those already there. "Wait.... what.... you mean THIS is what I'm paid???? I thought that was the interest on my checking account!!"

Eh, I'd say it's probably a combination of both. I know that I knew every regional's pay rates when I was looking for an RJ job, and so did every other CFI I worked with.
I think that was a different day and age. I never see pay rates discussed on this or other websites by those looking for regional work.

I've been asked my "expert" opinion by several friends looking to get in to regional flying.

I always lead with QOL questions, not necessarily pay.

2nd (and 1st if you have the quals) CA pay is always going to be higher than 1st 2nd 3rd or whatever year it is FO pay. With more than a couple regional's offering DEC positions and quick upgrades, I don't think first year FO pay will weigh that heavily on people's choice of where to go. Will it help attract applicants? Sure, maybe a little. But I think RAH is a sinking ship and pilots would be wise to look elsewhere.
