SWA taking off with music over PA?

Your question shows exactly why SWA is struggling in Atlanta, and why rumors are going around that the ATL domicile will be closed and the flights cut back. The Atlanta traveler, even the "leisure" traveler, isn't going to put up with SWA's crappy product when the best product in the industry is available for the same price from Delta.

Impossible! Atlanta is now HEART-lanta!!! haven't you seen all the billboards they've plastered around the city????

I won't be sad when Hotdog-On-A-Stick Airlines is chased out of ATL for good.

It's not Delta that's kicking their butt as much as it is Spirit and Frontier.

Even the CEO admits that it wasn't him as much as it was those two airlines.

The only thing she says that comes close to the service she experienced on Air Tran (mostly flights to and from New York State) is sitting in business class on Delta domestic flights so now we don't even care about the additional cost, but the experience and having music played over the PA isn't it... We've tried American recently, as I'm sure a lot of people out of Atlanta have as well, and they were horrendous from ATL-MIA RT and ATL-ORD RT. so from now on, it's Delta Air Lines.

Thank you for your business, sir.

We try hard.

I just wonder why people say they hate bag fees but will quickly book an airlines whose entire business model is based on fees.

Hmm.

The day America stops booking Spirit, Allegiant and Frontier is the day I sympathize with their "disdain" of bag fees.

Curiously, what is the accepted defining line(s) that denotes an LCC from a ULCC?

Not sure there's a textbook definition. But think of the LCC....SouthWest, JetBlue, WestJet come to mind. All are single class (save JetBlue's recent Mint service JFK/LAX/SFO). You don't see many Admiral's clubs and lounges. No massive regional feeder system. Don't think any are in World-Wide alliances.

ULCC along with the above charge for all extras....Seat Assignments, all baggage, all beverages, and typically have more onboard advertising as well as having the lowest legroom around.

I reluctantly flew on SWA last week to visit my brother up in Portland, OR from ATL. Reminded me of why I never fly on The Greyhound of The Skies. Row after row of screaming infants, clueless passengers, dumb PA announcements....the list goes on.

You and I definitely have seen things differently. I've flown on some of everyone in the past year and a half. They all have crying babies and clueless passengers. One of my last airline flights was on American from MIA to TUS on a 777. There was a very non compliant passenger that was a problem for the FA'S the entire flight. He didn't want to stow his laptop for takeoff. He didn't want to put his tray table up. He didn't want to put his seatback up and so on.... It happens on all of the airlines.

The other negative of the mainlines is the likelihood of having to fly on a regional. They have been some of the most poorly maintained cabins I've ever ridden on. The mainline brand really suffers with the outsourcing if regional flights. The EFE. .no wifi...no nothing.

Most of my friends have said that I've just gotten used to the standards on a private jet. :)

It's not hard to avoid the regionals. You just check to see what equipment operates a given flight, and book a different flight if it's an RJ.
But it's not some times. I just looked real quick on Kayak for a round trip between LAX and TUS. I have to do it tomorrow so it's familiar. Every flight is operated by Skywest. The only other option would be Southwest. That's the only way to avoid regional equipment and SW schedule doesn't work for me. It is only an eight hour drive but I just need to check on our airplane that's in maintenance and return same day. So it's Skywest for me. I know that's just one city pair. But the places we go in the corporate world (and airline home from) it's real hard to avoid a leg or two on the regionals.

That's an interesting city pair. We get 777 service here? And you didn't say hi? :)

It was a 777 from MIA to DFW and a mad dog DFW to TUS. Both planes broke at the gate which caused me to get in late. I got in the hotel at midnight and was out of there 10 hrs later. I had no time. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! :)

Hot dang.

Part of my brief is that if we have a non-compliant passenger before pushback, bring it to my attention and we'll evaluate his comportment and rectify the situation early.

Sadly, some personality types don't take the cabin crew seriously until some grey hair from the cockpit walks back and introduces himself.

Ain't nobody got time to land short of the destination because of a passenger who should have probably been left at the gate.

No business class, no IFE, a cattle call boarding procedure, no food, annoying flight attendants, the list goes on. Horrible product.
LOL. My turn, Delta sucked both times I flew them. Mainly I say this because of the poor customer service I received and this has nothing to do with the pilots or crew just an FYI but I do base my opinion of Delta off of both experiences with CS. I will never fly nor will I ever recommend Delta to anybody in need of help searching for tickets again and that's fine with me, I don't want friends or family dealing with the same crap I have gone through. The two times now I had to fly Delta they lost my bags both times, then when I called for assistance nobody seemed to care nor were they willing to help me find my bag. I live on the road and never go home so not having my bag really ticks me off especially when an airline does it twice in a row. What pissed me off even more was the fact that nobody cared about helping me find my bag other than to say, "well it was last seen in ATL...we'll let ya know" meanwhile I'm in Seattle wishing my company flew me on Alaska because I have yet to have an issue with them, and waiting for a phone call from Delta I never received. I had to make 5 calls just to finally get somebody to actually go search for my bag, wearing the same clothes until they finally found it. Then when my bag finally arrived in Seattle on a flight they couldn't even guarantee it making it on, I show up 20 minutes after everybody got their bag, now I'm sitting there hoping it even made it in and what do ya know? There it is still spinning around the belt by itself, nobody cared to grab it and take it over to the Delta CS. Finally I took my bag, and what do you know? I never once received a "hey did you get your bag?" call from Delta, thanks guys. It's nice to know that if I was a few minutes later and somebody felt like taking a free bag, nobody on the Delta side would have even noticed and I'd still be trying to figure out where it went. But what do I know? I'm just a hipster PNW Alaska airlines supporter which I'm sure you're a big fan of. I would love to change my mind about them but these are things that make me stop and think, now why would I pay to fly Delta knowing I might have to deal with this again?

You should know better than to make a decision about an airline based on one or even two bad experiences with a customer service issue. We all know how much we roll our eyes whenever someone yells "I'm never flying this airline again!"

I can assure you, what you experienced is bizarre and not at all the normal experience on Delta. Hell, you were having some incredibly awful luck just losing your bag twice in a row. Statistically speaking, that's almost impossible. Did you piss off god or something? :)

I sure hope I didn't! lol and yeah I have no doubt that you guys hear this all the time , I just wish it didn't happen the way it did. Hell if CS would have put some effort in, this original post would have never started. I really try to look at the full picture before judging and unfortunately the hulk came out by round 2 and lead to my decision. Like I said, I really hope I can change my mind about them and in no way trying to bash Delta crews at all, I have yet to have a bad experience with them and nothing bad to say at all. Unfortunately when something like this happens and it's handled the way it was, really makes you sit and think wow, do I really wanna go through this again? Maybe next time I''ll give them a try with carry ons only haha and go from there. Maybe somewhere... AZflyboy is lost... In the Twilight zone.... Dunna dunna, dunna dunna
