Allegiant Air Fuel Incident

Hell and death. I've always complained about not having "real" dispatchers. I'm born again. Screw it, I'll read the NOTAMs myself.

The problem is that you'll often see six pages of notams, IN ALL CAPS full of interesting tidbits like using caution about a fireworks display in July 2038 and there's a small, important tidbit that gets buried.

Some stations use perforated paper which is easy to separate into sections, others use that dot matrix roll where they'll hand you a continuous sheet about 9 feet long and you have to either read it like you're Santa Claus reading "Who's Naughty, Who's Nice" list or scream "INTERN! Separate my sections and BRING ME A FRESCA on the double".

I'd love to see the flight release from the Allegiant incident.

I wonder if the NOTAM was buried until a cascade on non-sequitur minutia, omitted, overlooked or not reconsidered after the departure delay.

NOTAM's are listed following the weather section on the release. Hopefully we can all learn from this incident and move forward. It takes less than 5 minutes to look at the destinations weather and NOTAM's but it can save a person a lot of grief and stress further down the road.

All of the releases are printed on standard letter/resume/college paper sized paper... usually spaced appropriately.

BUT.... about that Fresca you wanted... ice or no ice?

Yes, I want my soft drinks uniced and chemically "hot".

Bring me ice or I will cut you.

I would love to have laser printers at the gate.

You, sir, are preaching to the converted. Back when I was a useful human being and flew medevac, dealing with just reading all the (#&$ing NOTAMs was, and I'm not making this up, the most time-consuming part of my "go/no-go" decision. The rotor wing guys stole at least couple from me because I was counting on my fingers to figure out whether or not such and such zulu time closure applied to lil ole me.

What I have learned is to have the flight attendant put the soda at the bottom of the ice container. By the time you are ready for it, the drink is ice cold.

Modern flight planning tools give you all that junk info but highlight in red things you really might want to know like lifr wx conditions, poor breaking and closed runways.

And on a related note *hic*. If the ATIS gets any longer most "major" airports, we're not going to have to worry about single-pilot airliners. Back when I was flying single-pilot, it was bad enough. Now it's like listening to a freaking Sham-Wow! commercial. Oh, that's fascinating, Memphis. Thanks for letting me know in the most laborious *&#$#ing way that 9/27 is shorter than the other runways. I had no idea. Because I'm a retard and have nothing better to do than listen to your disembodied robotic voice warn me of • I would already know about if I were, you know, a "pilot".

Who said anything about laser printers?! Does that make us Tier 1?

As far as your carbonated bevie... there are some weird cats out there who like their sucralose injections warm... but while you enjoy your chilled fizzy refreshment let me polish your gold buttons and polish your kicks to a high sheen.

I wish we had ACARS/D-ATIS.... I feel your pain.

Tell @CK to join the supposed "revolution". Personally, I think everything worked just fine back when men were men and no one was wetting their pampers at the possible maybe conceivable chance that there might be (*$#$ing windhear. Shut the bleep up, tell me what the clouds look like, what the winds are, is anything broke down there, and get out of the way. Ima Landin.

You and @UAL747400 are kindred spirits.... minus his fetish for slim jims, zebra cakes, and Mtn Dew.
