Do you remember . . . " The Eagle has Landed . . . "

Van Halen II changed my life. They mastered the emotional blend of being sinister and happy at the same time. They slayed the LA rock scene and were untouchable from 1978-1982.

Most hard music now captures either the emotion of frenzied death, or thug loser idolatry.

Now get off my damn lawn....

Elaboration: nerd growing up under self-imposed rock develops odd music taste!
Writing music: Gregorian chant, Celtic music (Ronan Hardiman, Tartalo Music, Lunasa...), trailer music (Two Steps from Hell, Immediate, Audiomachine, Brand X...)
Homework music: mostly 80's (Annie Lennox, all Rocky soundtracks/training montages), Disney (Tarzan/Lion King soundtracks)
Operating-heavy-machinery music: terrible Euro dance (...think Eurovision), pirate metal (don't ask (Alestorm)), mediocre Bollywood soundtracks, misogynistic dance music (e.g. Pitbull)
Feel free to mock; I feel no shame.
Mock? Not a chance. I will leave you, however, with a "wow" and a slow clap.

Update: polled my friends, all of whom have heard of and listened to some of Van Halen's music. So fear not! There is hope in this generation! Just not in me, I guess.
I love you now!!!!!!!!

But, the question is, did they like them? And, if you decide to listen to them, bypass the songs, Jump and Panama. They are radio pop songs, ( good music, but VH is much deeper than these songs.)

I suggest VH1 or Fair Warning. :)

*allegedly.

Have spent hours talking to my wife's uncle, Charlie Duke of Apollo 16, so I'm pretty sure it happened.

Pretty amazing guy, and humble as well like Armstrong. Left a photo of his family on the moon but sadly without atmosphere, it's all but destroyed now. Class act.

As my wife tells it, it's hard to trump him on show and tell/career days :bounce:

Dude, that's awesome! yeah I can't imagine topping "...landed on the moon" at career day.

NOTE. The "allegedly" was a joke.

That pic looks like the moment the told them which two got land on the moon. Notice the grins on the two guys that did.
Looks like someone outside the frame just made a really off color joke. Buzz and Neil think it's funny. Michael be like "really guys? Grow up"
