Yeah, I guess if you successfully volunteered and worked 5-10 days off per month here you could clear 400k as a senior 747 captain, but only 3-7 days at home per month would be rough. I am not going to comment on the way open time trips are awarded here lest I say something I regret. At the present time, I have minimal interest in working on my "days off". I am forced to do that enough involuntarily when I get a reserve line.

.....or for the last 5 years, a mere 4 days off a month, and the TRACON's too far from the cabin for commuting so the inlaws couch it is 5 nights a week (anyone in PTC got a spare room :eek:) The FAA ROCKS!!!!

96 more days, then my home life will be less than 30 days a year, but that's my doing to retire 4 years earlier. Sometimes ya gotta sacrifice.

Absolutely NOT, and I wouldn't live in PTC if you paid me. The worst part of my 119.2 mile commute is the 14 from I-85 exit through PTC. Awful drivers and 3x's the traffic lights from when I arrived 17 years ago. Tyrone was a nice town, but the North Georgia mtns are awesome.

I also hear Baghdad is nice and I'll find out in about 100 days.

Yeah, I came down for the A80 open house about 3 weeks ago and it was a nightmare. I got to play controller for a bit; ATC material I am not.
Baghdad sounds... sandy. Although after googling it there are about 15 towns in the US named Baghdad too, so... I have no idea.
I actually studied Peachtree City in an urban geography class at KSU, apparently the new urbanists think 15mph is the 'ideal speed'. I just saw a bunch of fat rich white guys when I was down there. :biggrin:
