Why do you..?

I've flown to plenty of airports that have them linked to the main lights. I'm pretty sure they are at my home airport, in fact.

Either way, get over it. :)

As have I.

In fact, I can think of a couple just here in the local area where it's either all lights on or all off.

Don't sweat the small stuff. If that's the most you have to complain about, let's trade lives for a month or two.

If you're at high altitude during the day, just tune up 122.7/122.8 and transmit "aircraft on final, go around!", and hear.......maybe even see......the hilarity ensue, in multiple different counties.

:)

If it's a CAVOK summer weekend tune up 123.45

When there's a lull, just say "Wut's yer groundspeed?"

Are you aware that the PAPI and VASIS are looped on a separate lighting system and are *generally on all the time. Where as the edge and approach lights aren't?

Hence my passive aggressive rant?

Yeah, I'd say the majority of the uncontrolled fields I fly into this is not the case. My home airport is like this.

And I like to run up the electric bill, got to get the most out of those landing fees!

No because I'm generally sleeping!

However, it is a pain in the ass to be flying on night vision goggles at an uncontrolled airport, and someone at the neighboring airport turns on the lights!
But not everyone has access to the cool toys I do, when I wear a flightsuit...

There are so many things that grinds my gears, I now have pizza slicers.
Heck, no! You didn't just say that! Now everyone's gonna be clicking lights and grinding your gears just to mess with you.

One of the airparks I fly into has PCL. The local knowledge is to activate the lights to signal to the neighborhood someone is inbound. It alerts the landscapers to watch out (since they don't monitor CTAF) and the neighbors won't drive their golf carts on to the runway when the lights are on.
