Are the airlines really hiring more pilots?

Honestly it doesn't seem to me like they are, I am still doing my flight training so I am not sure if they are. Does anyone know what are airlines are actually hiring more(if they are)?

Yes. Until the majors really ramp up hiring, it will seem a little stagnant, but I know lots of people who have moved up the latter in the last couple of years.

By the time you get all of your ratings, (I looked at your profile-if that is accurate-66 hrs) get some gigs under your belt to build hours/experience, it all will have changed a dozen times. In other words, what is relevant now or in the near future will not be relevant by the time you are in a position to make a decision about any carrier.

And, when you get to a certain point in your path, you might also want to consider other types of flying gigs besides the airlines. There are plenty of other flying jobs with very good pay and decent QOL.

Don't be concerned about what the carriers are doing now, (and really there is no sure way to predict the future), just stay the course, become proficient, get through the process and enjoy the flying.

I know SKW is hiring, classes 45+ on the CRJ each month, not sure on the ERJ side. If your close, go ahead and get an app in. Any questions just ask..

I know they want classes that size, but I'm not sure they have found that many. I know some regional airlines are having a very difficult time finding qualified pilots to fill class seats.

Last four classes on CRJ side have had 42+ each month. Current class is 50. They are filling the classes. Good for my seniority number. 8)

The regionals are hiring like gang busters right now. The majors are certainly hiring but things remain quite competitive at that level. Hopefully someone can confirm this for me but a recent Delta interviewee told me they mentioned hiring 100/month for the next 8 years.

I would not be surprised to see some FFD purchases/mergers just to get the pilot pool.
We were discussing this in recurrent today at 9e... the pilot pool is now an asset worth just as much or more than a fleet of beat up RJs. Somebody with money is gonna buy someone else just for access to the seniority list.

At G4 we stopped hiring for about 4 months and now we've started again. I'm pretty sure we'll be running classes at least until the Fall. We've lost about 17 pilots that have left for the majors since Febuary (per the new SL) out of about 540 total.

It's not the apocalypse KD was talking about but there is definitely movement.

At this point, is there any evidence in a reduction in "quality time" experience as new goal has been reaching ATP mins?

I'll tell you that my friend, who was a check airman, said that the only thing the ATP rule did was remove their ability to be selective about who they hired.

Take that how you will.
