I always do the walkaround but I've noticed more and more CAs offer to and take the walkaround when it's my PF leg. That's the added benefit of being a small base of 53 crews.
Depends. You flying this leg?![]()
Perfect answer.
Any captain worth his salt should walk around on the FO's leg.
I always figure that extra five minutes with the FMS can make a world of difference.

Not all do. But as a career-FO (so far) I add this to my mental "good" parts of what CAs do. It is one of the things I will try and make sure I do as Captain because as a FO now I appreciate it.
I am lucky enough to be joining the team very soon. Ill be trying to get back to DTW, What would be faster, the 737 or the 757? And does it matter if I choose ATL or NYC as a starting base?
Thanks

And DFW-MSP.
I was watching the hockey game with about six DTW 747 pilots that didn't make their commute home.

Just man up and select NYCM88B.
15 years from now, nobody will know what a 757 is, but there will always be an NYC88B category.
Do it, you know want to.
As for walkarounds, I've always done 50% of them, and when I was an F/O, I experienced similar percentages. While I don't want to rehash any sectarian violence, I do distinctly recall an experience during the early days of the DL/NWA merger. Our South crew was in the hotel van with a North crew and the Capt asked me if I did walkarounds as a Captain. I replied "sure". He looked at me dead serious and said....."You guys gotta stop that crap right now".
It was a pretty silent van after that.
Anyone that voluntarily commutes between DTW and MSP is batcrap crazy.
Are they A's or B's?
Anyone who lives in MSP is batcrap crazy. I guess they have 'nice' schools. Eh, @amorris311 ?
In my experience, it is overrated.
Not all will retire with it...A's and B's. They're all retiring alongside the 747. Later skaters!![]()
