PSA New Hire FO Classes Suspended

Uh, wow.

I go away for a couple of days and thread progresses from career-oriented ⇨ trainwreck ⇨ dumpster fire.

Y'all need to learn to comparmentalize.

In an attempt to get things back on track....

Looks like the MEC and AAG have come to an agreement about further the SSP. Should get the details soon.

Anyone considering the DEC process? I was told that as a new hire, you aren't CASS enabled until completing IOE.

You get LUS/AA travel benefits on day 16 of training, and are able to jumpseat on PSA flights before that. You get full CASS access after your checkride in the sim, more or less, if I remember correctly. I know I was in CASS well before I started IOE.

Fursuiter !=~ furry. Some furs are fursuiters, and almost all fursuiters are furs, but there are a great many furs who aren't suiters.

Many suiters speak in suit. There used to be a stigma against it, much of which was based on the mascot tradition... which was a path that many suiters came in through. In these degenerate days, you see all sorts of things that would have been completely shocking to the original set—people wandering around with their heads off, talking in suit, etc.

Anyway, though, many still don't. Especially if you were in uniform or in business- attire or some other obviously non-furry get-up.

(When I arrive at fur cons (or leave them), my uniform makes me invisible to my fellow furs, but the hotel staff, van drivers etc notice me. When I'm there and I get in suit, suddenly the furs notice me, and my fellow pirots, the hotel staff, etc entirely cease to.)

Lame.

I've heard that you get positive spaced for training. Does that involve going home on breaks or are you just in DAY until you're done?

They positive space you to and from all training events. You are typically in Dayton for Indoc/Systems/IPT's, and then are positive spaced home to wait for your oral and then sims.

What is really lame is that you only get positive spaced to your first reserve one time before you get your relocation days. They pay for your hotel and 24 hour per diem before your relocation days, which is nice, but they only positive space you one time.

24/7 per diem while actually in training. Not while you are sitting at home between training events. You only receive the 75 hour monthly minimum base pay while you are sitting at home.

Well, none of the FOs in training receive per diem for days we aren't actually somewhere working / doing something that benefits the company. Who is telling you that you get it 24/7 when not in training?

That's interesting as that's not what I've been being told.

You get 24/7 per diem while training in DAY including weekends and then stop getting the per diem when they send you home to wait for sims. You'll get 24/7 per diem again during sims. You are home based during training so any assignment you get they positive space you there and back home. You will get a hotel room and 24/7 per diem after IOE during reserve until you get your relocation days.

How long does it typically take to get our relocation days? And are we paid 24/7 per diem during IOE?

You are paid 24/7 during IOE and while on reserve until you get your relocation days. Must people get the relocation days about 2-3 weeks after you finish IOE.

As far as DEC per diem, I would imagine that the wait time that DEC's will have between training evolutions will be greatly cut down. PSA really needs captains, and we are really overstaffed of FOs at the moment. I would not be surprised if you didn't have more than a weekend off between training events for DEC captains.

During training, the pay at PSA is about $3000 a month, including both the 75 hour guarantee and per diem.

Word is they still want to negotiate some and are keeping the details secret as to not give management an idea how we feel about it. All this negotiating leads me to believe AAG wants us to give up something major. I wouldnt be surprised if its related to critical coverage pay and/or SAP.
