The best thing since sliced bread

Mooneys are notoriously loud for piston singles (not much attention paid to sound proofing, apparently), but mine is whisper quiet with the PFX on. It does go through batteries pretty quickly trying to keep that sound down, though. I have to replace the batteries about every 12 hours.

Now that you own your own plane, ask your local avionics guy what it would cost to wire LEMO plugs for at least the front seats. The LEMO plugs supply ships power so you don't have to deal with batteries. I know the PFX is available with that option, not sure if you can change from the standard two plugs to LEMO. I know the older Bose you could buy just the cordset for around a hundred bucks. It probably won't pay for itself in battery usage, but the pain in the butt of swapping batts might be worth it.

This question again...

I've been using Clarity Aloft for about 4 years. I love the headset, so quiet, so light; but it also seems pretty finicky and breaks about every year. Luckily customer service is phenomenal, and they quickly send me a new replacement. I'm tired of having to go through the process though. 2 months with a new replacement CA, and the left ear stopped working the other day. I'm pretty tempted by the DC's.
Do it. You won't be disappointed. Had my Pro-X's for a while now and love them.

Already in the mail. Expect a new thread in The Trading Post once Clarity sends me a new headset. This next trip with only one ear is going to suck ... wait a second, that's how the entire last 2 years was.

How can you tolerate these things while wearing glasses. I feel like the earpiece trying push the glasses temple piece through my ears.

Rechargeable batteries are awesome just an FYI. They have paid for themselves with my headset already.

Really? Maybe adjust them lower on your ears? I've got no issues with glasses. Sometimes after wearing them all day (6+ hours) an ear will get irritated with or without glasses.

They can take a little getting used to but it's not bad.

Anything beats having to scream in the cockpit.

After about an hour it feels like my ears might get punctured. 3 days left on this trip for me to "get used to" them, otherwise it is back to the quieter more comfortable clarity's.

Well, as always, use what works best for you. If the CA's are better, go with those and return the DC's.

What type of glasses? I wear thicker framed Oakleys and haven't had an issue. I can even wear the glasses with a hat and don't have any issue. Are they thinner wire type frames? Those maybe sitting deeper behind your ear and the top of your ear is pushing on them?

The David Clark DC Pro X ENC headsets.

Sweet nectar of the gods.

Yes, they're spendy, you find find them at a slight discount at the DTW Stopover store and have you priced-out hearing aids and audiologists? :)

Wait, what? TSOed?, or is this for personal flying?

both prescription glasses and sunglasses. Day 5 of 5 tomorrow. Judgement day for these things.

Anyone tried the DCs in a prop? I'm pretty sure/determined I won't be flying props for a living next year so I'm wondering if these do a decent job in something that isn't a jet. Not plunking almost a grand on an over the ear headset, only to later do the same thing again for an on the ear headset would be great.

Metro/Brasila for reference. The Brasilia is actually louder and probably similar to anything else with a 100 series pratt

I'd give Senheiser a look for a non-over the ear headset.
