PSA Street Captains?

Techinically they don't guarantee you a captain spot but they approved people with the 1000 SIC to be able to skip FO IOE and go right into upgrade training. With 36 upgrades a month indefinitely qualified pilots will hold captain during initial training. Nothing like the ole days when I had to wait 8 months to upgrade......

This industry is stupid crazy. No guarantee is hard to swallow. The TSA CQFO program had the same exact problem. Not given the slot in writing after the interview means a no go for me. I wouldn't want to quit a job expecting captain pay only to be slotted in a new hire FO class.

I also wonder if they are only doing this for people with CRJ time. Many XJT and Envoy peeps may not be allowed to direct hire into the left seat since we only have ERJ time.

Exactly my concern. I can't afford to start over at $24/hr. Upgrade would be nice, but I'm not sure I'm willing to bet my house on it.

They actually changed in just after February. The email you receive says you're being hired for a CQFO position. Doesn't matter anymore, the program has pretty much stopped since we lowered upgrade minimums.

You do not need to have any CRJ time to get the upgrade, I only had about 200 hrs in the right seat of the CRJ when I upgraded coming from 8 years on the E145. You only need 1000 SIC and 2500tt to qualify for captain at PSA.

Reserve won't be that long, you will be moving up the list due to guaranteed attrition to AA and normal attrition to other majors and there will always be FOs senior to you that will bypass upgrade for whatever reason. I would guess reserve for a new captain hired this year would be a year or less and maybe only a few months depending on how junior the new base goes (BNA, MCO, and CVG are the three that I keep hearing over and over). I left SureJet as an 8 year FO and instead of commuting for 8 year FO pay I now drive to work for captain pay so the grass has been much greener for me.

Goodness, some of you could have a pot of gold placed 100 yards away, and you'd make an excuse that you don't want to risk tripping and breaking your neck on the walk to get it.

Sorry if I take being able to pay my mortgage seriously. From what I understand, this is hardly set in stone. This isn't a street captain position but rather the POSSIBILITY to hold captain right out of class. I'm still looking into details, but right now I'm not going to risk my financial stability on abother regional airline.

Adulthood isn't a damn game.
